I have never been there BUT a friend of mine is getting married there in October and she loved the old mansion feel of it. Supposedly (according to her) the pricing packages were good. I don't think they can accommodate a huge guest list, though.

I think there was a review of the Coindre Hall on the Review Board a few months ago....I think it was an April wedding.
I'll try to bump it for you if I can find it.

Your best bet is before asking you need to go to some places and find out what you like.....everyone has different taste and sometimes depending on the person they might give different prices

when you go ask about the price changes in seasons or months..
Good luck

When I was looking for a hall, I had contacted Phillip Stone caterers about Coindre Hall. The site fee was $3,300 and the per person fee ranged from $105 to $125 plus tax and service charge. The minimum was 75 people, so I don't think it holds too many. The dining and dancing areas are separate.

Kristin; have ou checked out the wedding sites and services book and website? That can help you narro it down. Also just search for the name of the hall you want info on. I think the only way you're going to know about a hall is to make a list of the ones you want and visit them. I got the sites and services book and crossed out all of the ones that were too far, didn't hold enough people, etc, and then circled the ones I liked and went from there. People are going to give you all kinds fo advice, but you need to decide what's important to YOU. For me, I care mostly if a hall can cater vegetarian food and I want and old style feel with big windows and fireplaces. My sister wanted the modern feel. Keep in mind that we all have different opinions because we ahve different requirements and a lot of brides are justa teensy bit biased toward the hall they picked

By all means keep asking the questions, I just thought I'd try to help you narrow it down. In the end the decision is yours.

Well, look on the Lessings site, they now run the weddings at the Coindre Hall. The problems that I personally had with the Coindre Mansion were as follows: Dinner and Dancing were in two separate rooms and the outside is a public park, meaning anyone could be hanging aruond the grounds on your wedding day. Those two things were unappealing enough to make me want to look elsewhere. I did, however, find the Bourne Mansion, also run by Lessings.

I looked here, it really depends on your taste. I wasnt thrilled with the delipadated (sp?) chapel hanging off the back, the way they paved the whole backyard of it and like mentioned earlier, people were just walking their dogs all around the place. However, it may have changed since we saw it a few years ago. THe bridal suite was nice, the rooms were ok, its a shame its not privately owned b/c I think the county tried to fix it up in the cheapest way possible.

But thats just my take on it, definitly check it out it might be just what your looking for!

Re: The Mansion at Coindre Hall

I got married there in April and wrote a very detailed review after returning from my honeymoon. In short, I loved the place and was thrilled with its charm. Price, we were fortunate, was not a major factor, in fact, we cancelled Oheka to take Coindre, but it sure is an amazing bargain. PLEASE FM me if I can help at all.

P.S.
to Beth's comment--we donated much of our savings (we had budgeted for Oheka) to the County and they completely renovated the ceiling, drapes, floor, and entry. Looks pretty great now, IMHO. Though, I agree it is a matter of personal taste -- I fell for it well before any of these improvements were made.

to 12/15/02:
the park in the back is a dog run and our photographer LOVED it -- took these J Crew looking photos. I agree that the dinner/dancing different rooms is a matter of personal taste but we LOVED this feature.
