23 weeks today and we've finally decided that we should think about a name for our Peanut...hehe.
We've gone through 100's, literally!! DH would like to use 'S' for the first name as his late father's name was Sheldon, although, we don't *have* to use it.
Sooo, right now we're liking:
Sean Michael (I'm the Irish one, and my late brother's name is Michael).
Sarah Elizabeth (Sarah is a Hebrew name meaning Princess - awww - and my middle name is Elizabeth).
My sister, who has 3, said I should be thankful I'm only working with 1 letter as opposed to 26!
Any suggestions??

Re: The name game....
Choosing names for your child is a very personal decision. This is a bit of unsolicited advice, but no matter what you decide, steel yourself to the feedback from friends/family. Everyone (no matter how much they love you) will have a comment.
I can't say I'm any better - one of my friends recently gave birth, and I criticized the way she spelled her daughter's name, although not to her face - Olivea (?? who spells it that way??).
All that aside - I think that BOTH names you have chosen are very nice! And, I love the idea of the name having a special significance for your families. That is an extra special gift.

I love the names you have chosen. I think the most important thing to remember in this process is that it is your baby, and you have to be happy with name chosen. Good luck

Re: The name game....
My Irish mother would love your son's name! And her Italian daughter (that would be me ) likes it too!!!! The girl's name is pretty also!!!
I dread this because already we don't agree and then there's that Irish mother who wants 'Erin, Caitlin, Patrick' and no can do!!!!
As long as you and Steve are happy with the names you pick, that's the most important thing because like Claud said, you're always going to hear something from family members that don't agree. Well too bad I say, they had their chance to name their kids and I don't think they did so great either (in reference to some of my family's names)!!!

Kathi - very nice names youve chosen so far ! Go with your heart !
Debbie I remember your little dilemmas about 'the Irish side' wanting those Irish names, lol. You can do one of each .
Funny story. I left John Anthony at my moms overnite and my sister lives a few blocks away. So of course that evening I called a million times because I missed him to pieces. and my BIL was on the phone, and they have the most italian names on earth, well my BIL goes, 'we have john anthony here, we already renamed him' (trying to make me feel guilty for 'leaving him' LOL) and I go 'What did you rename him Michelangelo Leonardo ???' it was funny at the time because everyone teases my sis and her hubby for their kids LONG 3 Italian names EACH. and then their names are very italian too....
sorry, tangent again

Anna - I love the names your sister's kids have! DH's cousin's kids are named very Italian names too - Christiana, Giovanna and Nicholas, whom they call 'Nico' for short!

Re: The name game....
How about Seamus for a boy? Now that's Irish
Sean is a great name - I'm partial b/c my oldest nephew is Sean, my favorite kid in the world (I guess before my boy came along...I feel guilty saying that) I think your names are really nice. It's definitely important that you are both happy with the name, you'll be using it for a long long time. We could never really come up with a girl's name we could agree on so it was meant to be that we had a boy. We decided Luke John for a boy very very early on...
Let us know if you choices evolve and change...I love hearing the name choices.

Re: The name game....
I LOVE the name Sean, as Scott and I want a Sean someday. It's the only name we agree on. He likes to think of funky sport names like Brady- (yes after a quarterback) and I will never agree to that.
For a girl I want a daughter named after both my grandmothers Eva Mary. And honestly, it will be hard for Scott to change my mind on that. But I figure after watching me go thru labor he'll agree to anything
I think the names you have chosen are beautiful. And I also agree with Claud about family comments. Actually I plan on making up totally funky names and pretending that is what we are naming the baby then when I say a 'normal' name they will be thrilled

I tihnk both names are very good choices. And I too, love how you broguth your family into it. Do you plan on finding out what the sex will be? If you do then you can concentrate more. Until then you can call your little peanut 'Baby S.' Justin was a 'Baby J' for nine months and it stuck with him even afte he was born.

Re: The name game....
Kathi I LOOOOOOVE Sean Michael!
Sarah is pretty, but I see a lot of them at school, so it's not as exciting to me as Sean.
