The Nerds, MGM, Full House, HELP!!!!!

FI is in charge of the band thing, since he is the one who is insisting on a band.

The Nerds are who he has always wanted, however they are $10,000!!!!!

Yes, we are considering it, as crazy as it sounds, however they are be really obnoxious about their prices. They want $8500 plus $1500 for travel, plus 4 rooms! And they are not budging. They also want extra for the cocktail hour! And they aren't giving FI a discount for being a fellow musician.

Now we have to hunt for another band, and we don't have all the time in the world.

Sorry to be so long winded, but does anyone have feedback on MGM (and their website), Full House (going to see them this week), and has anyone heard of Mirage? I think they are out of NJ.

MGM is good. They are all up there in $$. Paris is excellent and at a decent price

Re: The Nerds, MGM, Full House, HELP!!!!!

We are using MGM - we went to listen to them in their studio and really enjoyed it. They are truly really nice guys - five brothers and a female singer. You can tell they love what they are doing and pricing was in line with other bands. A true band!

FBIL and FSIL are using Paris and I have seen their video - also great but more wedding bandish.

So depends on what you are looking for.

Re: The Nerds, MGM, Full House, HELP!!!!!

We used Full House for our wedding and they were great. They are also a vendor on this board. They had the floor packed all night long and were a pleasure to deal with before and after the wedding. I highly recommend them. You won't be disappointed if you choose them. And they are priced very reasonably for a band.

OMG... my entire reception is costing 10K.

Maybe if all of the Beatles were to come back to life and reunite I'd pay that or

Elvis.

Re: The Nerds, MGM, Full House, HELP!!!!!

That's a lot of $$$$. I used Niteflight and they are very reasonable and not your typical wedding band. Sounds like you don't want the typical. They do a lot of Funk, Soul...etc... FM me if you want more specifics.

have you asked the Sagamore, who they recommend? Bringing a band from down here is going to cost you a pretty penny.

Re: The Nerds, MGM, Full House, HELP!!!!!

That's funny - the Nerds were the only band I would have even considered for my wedding (not a fan of bands) but I personally thought that $10,000 was an absolutely ridiculous amount to spend on anything short of the reception. But they are amazing - if you have the money, go for it.

Re: The Nerds, MGM, Full House, HELP!!!!!

I have another suggestion, based out of Dobbs Ferry, so at least it's a little closer. Check out www.stolenmoments.com. They have a few different bands and are more in the $4500-6000 range. I booked Moonlight Silouettes and they were $4500 for an 8 piece band.

Re: The Nerds, MGM, Full House, HELP!!!!!

My old roommate always wanted the Nerds. When she got engaged and looked at them, she changed her mind. They never returned calls, were always obnoxious, and told her to come and see them at another couple's wedding reception! I would be pissed if they invited people to see them at my wedding! She ended up not booking them. You don't need that aggravation when planning your wedding!

Re: The Nerds, MGM, Full House, HELP!!!!!

We considered having the wedding at the Sagamore, and not sure what type of band we would have used, but I'm guessing you're going to wind up paying a TON extra for the travel expenses if you get someone from downstate (plus, like most other things, I'm sure the bands will charge much less up there to begin with). Have you looked into Albany and Saratoga-area bands? That's probably where I'd start. If you don't find anything good, you might want to look into Vermont bands and see who will make the trip over to the lake. Good luck!
