The New Girl

Hey...I'm new here! Been engaged for about a year now and we are finally planning! YAY! We were hoping for April or May of 2008 and after looking at this board I am getting nervous...I think i'm way behind! AH
Problem= I live in California and am having the wedding in NY...since i'm not there it's been hard to find a place because I can't go see them. Any suggesstions?

YAAAAY!!! Welcome and congrats!!!!

This is the best site. It has EVERYTHING you need...and if you can't find it, ask any of these girls. They're so great.

Good luck!!

Welcome!!!

Wellllll.....I'd say, figure out how much you want to spend per person, which day (Fri, Sat, Sun...?) - and which time of day (afternoon/night) and what style you are going for (waterview, garden, country club, etc...?). Lets us know - we can point you in the right direction!!

Re: The New Girl

hello & welcome!!

planning a wedding from far away can be a little challenging but this board is going to help you SOOOO much!! if you can't get here to get everything done in person, you at least can check reviews from other brides about vendors/things you're looking into.

i have friends who planned their wedding from florida and it was an AMAZING wedding!! i'm sure yours will be too. just ask lots of questions on here, read lots of posts to get ideas and most of all, don't stress out!!

happy planning!!

this is a link to a page on liweddings but in case you haven't seen it yet, this might be really helpful...it's a list of catering halls and average prices.

Re: The New Girl

Welcome to the boards! How many people are you looking to accomodate? And when you say $50-$100 pp are you talking about a Saturday evening or something else? I can bump the price thread on this board for you to look at. There are a TON of great reception halls on Long Island so you can find something that is perfect for you!!!

We're looking at between 120-140 people and yes on a Sat evening.

Re: The New Girl

For a Saturday evening...if you want to stay in the under $100 range you should probably check out:

Chateau La Mer
Swan Club
Bridgeview Yacht Club

This is all I can think of right now. I am sure you will get tons of responses tomorrow when everyone's at work and logging on to LIW!!

WELCOME!!!! Well all help you...

Bonnie has it all together! You should consider these things before looking. ...if you go to the liweddings homepage, theres a greenbar close to the top that says click to see the reception location guide....if you use those guidelines, itllhelp you narrow ur search...GL!

Re: The New Girl

welcome & congrats!! these boards are the best!! if it wasnt for everyone on here, i would be lost in planning my wedding!! you've definitely come to the right place!! i would say you can definitely find a place under 100/pp in april b/c thats considered off peak, may is peak but you will still be able to find places.
