Hey...I'm new here! Been engaged for about a year now and we are finally planning! YAY! We were hoping for April or May of 2008 and after looking at this board I am getting nervous...I think i'm way behind! AH Problem= I live in California and am having the wedding in NY...since i'm not there it's been hard to find a place because I can't go see them. Any suggesstions?

Congrats and welcome!!! Ask anything you like but main thing is always start on the budget and a list once you got that down you can move to the fun stuff.

Welcome and Congrats!!!! This board will help you with everything. The girls on this 08 board are great and have such helpful ideas and great hearts! also check out the vendors helping brides since you are out of the area. they might be able to work with you to make it easier on you. Also, don't feel bad aboiut not having anything done. I live here and haven't doen much at all. I am also having my wedding in april.

I would first think about what you want in your hall... for example, do you want it on the water, do you want something modern, something cozy, something elegant... That should help you narrow it down. Don't be afraid to ask around here! We're experts on everything wedding.
You may want to check out The Brides Review board to see some halls all decked out and to hear what the brides thought of the hall on their wedding day.

This site should be very helpful since you are planning from far away. You should def make a trip here to look at places and meet with the vendors though- spending the kind of money you do for a wedding, you will feel better knowing what you are paying for. Have fun planning and best of luck!!

We checked out a lot of places, heres a few that were very reasonable, are all very pretty places and the BM's were very willing to try to make the price work for us!
- Larkfield Manor, I loved the BM there and it's so beautiful (this was our 2nd choice)
- Riviera, another place where the BM was excellent (it's at the top of your price range but it's very pretty and on the water)
- Sands @ Lido Beach, this BM told me he'd go flower shopping, DJ shopping and even dress shopping with me in order to help me stay within a reasonable budget! He was awesome!
- Verdi's, I dealt with the BM there for my mom's surprise 50th birthday and the service he gave us was excellent so I could only imagine what he'd do for a wedding. They are definitely within your price range...and the food was excellent!
Don't get me wrong there were some places I didn't like the BM's lol, these few places I just happened to love the BM's plus their prices are within your price range
