I noticed that there was an old thread called 'Official 40+ brides' that was turned into 'Official 30+ brides'. Just wondering if the 30+ brides are still out there for 2010, 2011, and 2012. Is this your first marriage? What about your FH - is it his first? Do you think your wedding experience will differ from that of younger brides? I am learning quite a bit from the younger brides (love them to death) and wonder what wisdom you 30+ brides have to share.
I am 35 and will be 37 by the time I get married. I've never been married before. My FH was married once before.

I'll be 34 by the time we get married. FH will be 39. It's a first marriage for both of us. My younger brother is getting married a few months before me and I notice that his FW (25) wants a lot more cutsy things. (not saying this is the case with all younger brides as one of my BFF's is getting married and she is a bit younger).

Hilarious!!! I can't stop laughing. I might steal the 'marriage' theme.
I am sort of in the middle. I want some cutesy things. For example, my FH doesn't see the need for engagement pics...I think it would be cute and a nice way to preserve the memories. My FH, well, he thinks that it is an extra unnecessary step. LOL...if I would allow it he would marry me by exchanging vows on a post-it (saw this on an episode of Grey's Anatomy) and not do a thing more. Okay, I am exaggerating a bit, he does want an officiant. He simply wants to marry me. I get it.
My MOH asked me yesterday if I want a bachelorette party. I told her no. I don't want that much of a fuss made over me.
Please keep your FSIL dialogues coming...I love it!

I'm 34 and DH is 42. We got engaged when i was 32. It's our first marriage, I was engaged in college at the age of 22 and we broke up when i started my 2nd year of law school.
Totally agree in the cutesy things younger brides do. I didn't have a bridal shower, a 'theme'' or a bachelorette party. I just wanted something simple and no drama!

I'm 40, FH is 42 and he is once married. I have a 4 1/2 old who I adopted solo in 2008. No bacherlorette stuff but YES a shower. We're building a house so it's perfect

I will be 31 and he will be 37 . first marriage for us both. Still want all the cutesy tings. He didnt see the point of engagement pics so I had to work on him for that. Dont want a bridal shower cause we already live together and have alot of stuff.

Im 30 now and will be 31 when we get married. Fh is 31. Both our first marriage and last :) We've been living together for 2+ years been together 3 and a half. Happy we waited to marry, i feel like we both really know what we want And hellz ya i want a bachelorette party!!! Just not one as crazy as i would habe wanted 5 yrs ago maybe a weekend away with the girls to foxwoods or mohegan

I was 37 when we got married, DH was 40. First for me, 2nd for him. I def think that the planning and expectations are different when you are a little older. I had no bach party, I did not want one (not my style). He did, but it was just a bunch of his friends sitting around drinking one night. We did not have a theme, other than simple elegance. A lot of DIY projects, which our guests all loved. Not a lot of the pre-wedding festivities, no e-party, no epics, no STD's - but we got engaged and were married less than 5 months later.
ETA - Oh I did have a shower. But my MOH screwed up when she chose the date, so I had the sum total of 8 people at my shower, 3 of the 8 was me, mom, MOH.

I'm turning 30 in 2 months and FH is 31. We will be those ages when we get married. My little sister is 2 years younger than me and got married two years before me and had the big blown out wedding, which was awesome. I just feel like at this stage of life, I like things more understated and laid back.
This is the first marriage for both of us, no kids either.

ITA!!! FH is younger though so he has 6 guys in his bridal party (compared to my 4). and we sat down last night to look over the invite list and hes got friends that he thinks he is close with...yet ive never met them and ive been with him for 2+ years!! getting him to realize this isnt just another 'party' that you can invite an unlimited number of guests to is going to be veryyyy challenging

Hi! I was the 'old lady' who started the last 40+ turned 30+ thread.
So glad to see that you girls are starting up another one. It was great to see the difference in what us older brides were doing compared to the 20+ girls.
