Re: The New York Botanical Gardens...BEEN THERE??

I went to a wedding there in June. It was absolutely gorgeous! I am not sure the name of the room. The food was great (Abigail Kirsch). By far, the best wedding food that I have ever had! Service was excellent. My only complaint is I did not care for the cocktail hour room. There were too few tables. Also not enough food stations, but that could have been just what the bride chose. Unfortunately, it created long lines to get any food. Another thing that I did not like was that there was a LONG wait at the valet. But it was a HUGE wedding! Other than that it was a very classy wedding! Of course the place is beautiful, especially the grounds, especially in June. Let me know if you have any more specific questions. I hope I helped some.

Re: The New York Botanical Gardens...BEEN THERE??

Annieb - I sent you a forum mail with some info related to this question, but I ought to resummarize in case anyone else has the same questions:

1) Very good food, although as mentioned, the cocktail hour was a bit sparse and no where to sit.
2) The room was packed with tables very close together (so don't go up to the room max), dance flood on the smaller side as well for the number of guests...
3) Service was very good, setting of course beautiful.
4) The reception was held in a room with windows on just one side. All I could see was a mural of flowers which seemed funny for the botanical gardens...
5) They won't let your guests arrive early to wander around.

Overall it was wonderful, I'm just being picky so you can consider your options.

Re: The New York Botanical Gardens...BEEN THERE??

There was a thread a few days ago regarding the Botanical Gardens, just to add to the cocktail hour comment, a bride went to look there... they were charging her $230pp... and she had to add 2 stations to the cocktail hour, giving her a total of only 4! I am getting 10 hot stations at mine for way less than that! I'm sure a wedding there is gorgeous, however you should make sure you get your money's worth JMO
