The 'no' responders on rsvp's.... What's the deal?

The 'no' responders on rsvp's.... What's the deal?

Ok, now I recognize that I have moments of being a *BIT* more emotional than is normal for me in random spurts as the wedding gets closer. We have just started to get our responses back in teh past 2 days, which is very exciting. So far, only 2 'No's'. HOWEVER...I think I'm being overly sensitive, but when you know people really well (say, a cousin for example) who only check NO, and don't write a note or call or explain at all, I find myself a little hurt. I'm big on notes, emails, etc..I would never just check no and not explain....
Is this bride brain?

Somebody admit they had this thought at least once and make me feel better:P

I agree that I would be upset if there was no explanation from someone like that. I'm no where near that point in planning but I agree completely with you!!

I've felt this on a number of occassions about the no responses. You're not alone!!!

I can't blame you for being upset about that. esepcially since it's a close family memeber. that's just rude, IMO.

For example, one guest told me that they can't come because their dog sitter is not available that day. They could have kept that one to themselves.

I would prefer NO's to 'I will TRY and come' WHAAAAAAAT???!!!

Try? There is no 'TRY'...just DO, or DO NOT.

I am getting rsvps in every day and there have been some who just put '0' for number of people and didn't write anything. I agree with you that it's kind of strange but I guess that is what people are doing. I'm not sure I really want to know why they can't come to such an important day in my life.

I agree - there are so many people that I was surprised that they said no to such an important day. Who knows, maybe I picked a popular date.

i completely understand what you're saying.... i didnt care about getting an explanation, but it was weird to me if they just checked off No w/o writing 'sorry we cant make it' or 'best wishes' ' hope you have a great day'... just something random.... but alot of those were DHs guy friends, so they really wouldnt think to do that. we had a few family memebers, but we knew they had alot of stuff going on.

try not to take it too personally though. i've had to decline for reasons that i really didnt want to explain or couldnt (b/c it wasnt really my situation to talk about).... people have their reasons, whether it be financial, personal, etc... it doesnt mean that they arent happy for you... just that they cant be there that day to celebrate it with you

I feel the same way. One guest wrote 'I shall not attend'. That was it. Another guest wrote 'Mr & Mrs John Doe will not attend' and underlined 'not' like 4 times!! Ok, we get it - you're NOT coming!!

I agree - it's very annoying when someone you expect to come to the wedding says no, and then doesnt even write anything.

I had 3 Nos and no note on any of them and that did bother me too.

I felt this way with the first couple of 'no' responses, but then I got used to it because we got so many, lol. Oh well.

although i've never responded no to a wedding invite, i never knew you were supposed to write like 'can't wait!' or 'looking forward to it!' on the response cards!

i always just wrote my name or number of people coming. now i feel so bad i learned it JUST THIS SPRING!!! so maybe people don't realize they should write something. or at least you can HOPE that is the case

Thanks for posting this, I thought I was the only one getting more 'no's' than imaginable.

I have family members that didn't even RSVP. I found out they were no's when I made my mom call.. People suck!

You're not alone. I have felt the same way. If you say no then why not explain. I have been under the impression that people play games sometime...hence waiting last minute, Makes me feel bad because I think of all of the things I have done for them and then wonder why they wouldn't want to celebrate with us. But see....I get all worked up when I shouldn't...just can't help it.

oh wow, now THAT'S RUDE.

fh's cousin sent back his reply as 'Decline' with no explanation. we didn't get it because his daughter was supposed to be a flowergirl in our wedding.
we had to call him and then found out he was having his daughter drop out of the wedding!
okay, this was a month and a half before the wedding!
