The OFFICIAL FOOTBALL WIDOW'S THREAD (UPDATE)

Original post by Goldi1021

Ok its only week one and already I cannot pry FH away from the TV or his computer (Fantasy Football Freak that he is). I cannot deal with this through January. SOMEONE STOP THE MADNESS! We still have an apartment full of boxes that need to be unpacked. I need to be held. I hate this friggin sport. And if one person tells me I should learn to like what he likes, I'll tell them what they can do with a football!

Re: The OFFICIAL FOOTBALL WIDOW'S THREAD

Good to know I'm not the only one!!!

When he is not watching sports, he is playing football on his new PS2!!

And how his teams do affect his entire mood for the day!!! If the Giants or the Yankees lose, or even if he loses while playing his damn PS2, he is in a pissy mood that I have to try to shake him out of!!!

I used to watch the Super Bowl for the commercials, but now even the commercials are crappy!!!

Next Sunday I say we all get together and do something productive like a luncheon or go bowling or something!!!

We can have a fantasy bridal league!!!

i have one thing to say on this topic

J-E-T-S! JETS! JETS! JETS!!!

I am a BIG Jets fan!!! I don't know who likes it more me or FH. Sorry I love this season. Cool weather, leaves, and my favorite sport FOOTBALL!!!!

I am bummed about thier blowout loss today not a good way to start the season.

Ditto. Although clearly I am the bigger sports fan. Joe likes the Jets, but he rarely watches the games.

Yes, Yes, Yes--the fantasy bridal league. We have to start this somehow. It will sweep the country. What do we do, pick a fantasy bride, fantasy bridesmaids? How can we work it?

Or, --we each pick a team of fantasy vendors, and when reviews are posted on LIW we have to take bits and pieces of each review to show how our fantasy wedding turns out. Whoever's fantasy wedding has NO negatives wins a prize.

Or--we all go to really high end stores and eye our fantasy wedding items. The more jerky our FHs are about football, the more stuff we can actually buy.

I start first--I saw my FANTASY engagement ring at Cartier. It has a pave band and an 8 carat center stone. I bet I can get FH to stop watching football if I take his credit card and tell him I'm off to Cartier to purchase that gem! In fact, I'll tell him that I thought he would like it because the center stone looks like a football!!

I am definitely a member! FH and I were up at 3 AM to be at Ground Zero at 5 AM! We were able to leave early (instead of 5 PM like they told us) and FH's statement was 'Yay! I get to watch the Giants game!' Are you f'ing kidding me? We've been up since the dawn of time and you want to watch football? I fell asleep at 6 :30 PM, and even though FH promised to come in bed and cuddle, he stayed up to watch the entire foot ball game.

I hate this sport

I feel your pain.....yesterday the games started at 1pm and he was on the couch watching football for the next 11 hours. I was able to get wedding research done and if I needed to ask him a question I knew where he was . Now I just need to convince him that anything he wins in the fanasty football league should go towards the wedding . Ahhhh the fun of football season... !

I love his obsession because it gets him out of the house on Sundays so I can relax and clean in a quiet house. And I may watch a few TLC shows too.

Re: The OFFICIAL FOOTBALL WIDOW'S THREAD

Hmmm, let's see...um, yup, I think I am definitely a football widow. FH not only watches it, plays it, PS2's it, Fantasy Football League's it, he tells me he needs to check his stats (READ: get off LIW so I can check my stats!), and whenever he sees a family member of the same sex, the conversation immediately turns to football. They talk of nothing else. And they say us women are obsessive!

Re: The OFFICIAL FOOTBALL WIDOW'S THREAD (UPDATE)

Another reason why I hate football?

FH played today and now has a minor concussion. Do I feel bad that he is in pain or possibly hurt? YES. Am I fawning all over him? NO. You play, you pay. TUFF GUY!

Re: The OFFICIAL FOOTBALL WIDOW'S THREAD (UPDATE)

Trust me, i know how you feel. My FH loves pro-football and college football so that means he'll watch pretty much any football game thats on. And yes he'll watch it from start to finish (all 4 hours). I've got it narrowed down to 3 teams though. If either of those 3 teams are playing (Jets, Falcons & Virginia Tech), he gets to watch them and i don't even ask him to do something else. But if it's not one of those teams playing, he can tape it if he really wants to watch it. But i'm not going to put my life on hold for football games!
