The Official Hamlet Windwatch Golf & Country Club Thread

Original post by divabride

I've been hesitant to start a thread since there's not too many of us. But now there's seems to be a couple of past brides and new brides here. Plus there have been many inquiries regarding the windwatch. Lets start this post and see if we can make this the official thread.

I think we did ours in March/April. We were told by Denise when to call to - I think it is 3 months before but you can call to double check. They ask you ahead of time how many people are coming - we brought 4 altogether and I do remember my dad leaving a tip for them (probably $10) Im so sorry Im not more sure of things - i have a horrible memory even though it really wasnt that long ago.

eta - it was the middle of april we went, so just under 3 months til our wedding

I had my wedding there and it was FANTASTIC!! Denise was great, as was my bridal attendant. I agree with the other posters...do the combo course...Very yummy and gives you and your guests more time to party!!! Everyone raved about all the food, especially the cocktail hour and dessert!!

I had my guests stay at the hotel across the lot...It was known as the Wyndham but I guess now it is the Hyatt. Hopefully, a change in management will be good because this hotel was an absolute Disaster...they screwed so many things up!!

FM me with any questions!!

I fourth the combo course suggestion. We went back and forth on the idea for a while...but were so happy with our decision in the end.

We had our tasting about 1 month before our wedding - Denise will let you know.

I second the Wyndham comment...there were a few things about them that I hope the Hyatt cleaned up.

Our wedding was from 8-1...it ended just after 1 and a group of us went to the hotel bar and partied some more until about 3:30a.

How many people can you bring with you and did you leave any sort of tip? TIA!!

You can have a total of 6...so we brought our parents.

We didn't tip...

Yikes!!! I was hoping to do it earlier so I can work on my menus. Looks like I'll be burning the midnight oil making my menus!!! Any suggestions on must have food?

Oh and just an FYI..I booked the Hyatt and they told me that the bar now closes at 1 am and will not stay open. You can stay in the lounge but they will not serve drinks..Hyatt policy

I'm sorry, we went late July for the tasting...so just over a month before. We faxed our choices the week of.

Everything we chose was a big hit - the Chilean Sea Bass, being the biggest. The Prime Rib and stuffed chicken dish (can never remember the name!) were also delicious (based on guests reviews...I didn't try any of them - vegetarian).

We went with the salad that had the mandarin orange slices in it - can't remember the name....and combined it with the Grilled Nap Tower. DELISH.

Raves about the raw bar, sushi bar and crepe station also...

Oh, that's too bad. There were 3 or 4 other bridal parties in the lounge that night...they're missing out on some good business.

That's what I told her. I also said I would pay to have the bar open later and she said they couldn't do it..oh well...

Has anyone not used or is not going to use the extra cocktail room. It is a lot of extra money, but I am afraid it will be to crowded and also not enough bar space. I also don't like to fact if you don't book the extra room the restaurant will be open while your cocktail hour is going on.

I was so torn with the other room but decided to book it. It gives people more space to sit and the bar is open the WHOLE reception so thats nice. It is a lot of money but I think it will be worth it.

I agree. My biggest fear was that if there was bad weather, I wouldnt be able to comfortably seat all my guests in the one room.

I think I am going to just get the extra room. My parents are paying for the hall so I think me and my FH will split the extra room. Its not that much since its on a Sunday night.

We booked the restaurant and that's another decision we definitely didn't regret. Our guests loved being able to roam around...there was plenty of seating for CH.

I asked that all the linens were ivory - I didn't like the mismatch of the floral one's in the atrium...

The only thing I would suggest is to either 1) have all the food in one room...or 2) make sure the staff lets your guests know that there is food - different food - in each room. Some of our guests assumed that the food was the same in each room and missed out on some things.

I was just about to ask you about that, Jordon!! Good thinking!!

Re: The Official Hamlet Windwatch Golf & Country Club Thread

I thought of the guests not releasing the food in the other room, I guess I will ask if all the food can be in one room. Did any of you not have high centerpieces? Denise said she recommends them but, I am on a budget. Also I am only having about 125 people and I don't want the wall dividing the reception room and the CH room to be open during cocktail hour. Denise said that if you book the restaurant they leave the wall open.

Re: The Official Hamlet Windwatch Golf & Country Club Thread

I was hoping they would close the wall so as to get the affect that the ballroom was on its own. I hope denise doesnt give me a problem about that.

I have another question, did you find it to be a problem of having the large bar (in the restaurant) open to guests. I really dont want everyone straying to that room.

I found tall candle centerpieces (no flowers)for a reasonable price. FM me if you want details.

I want the wall closed between cocktail hour and reception. I think they are doing that because we are having our ceremony there as well. I don't want my guests to see the room before its done

PS. I'm having low centerpieces
