The Official Hamlet Windwatch Golf & Country Club Thread

Original post by divabride

I've been hesitant to start a thread since there's not too many of us. But now there's seems to be a couple of past brides and new brides here. Plus there have been many inquiries regarding the windwatch. Lets start this post and see if we can make this the official thread.

I *personally* don't like the wall closed - 1) it looks like a gym wall and 2) I felt it closed the room in. They did a half wall for us - for CH.

No problem with the big bar...our guests remained in the ballroom for the night - unless they were going outside for smokes.

Denise recommends the tall CP's - I don't *personally* like the tall CP's...I wanted to take advantage of the oval tables so we went with low CP's...but they flowed from one end of the table to the next. They looked gorgeous, if I do say so myself.

Re: The Official Hamlet Windwatch Golf & Country Club Thread

Is there a cake tasting? Is it done at the food tasting or do you have to go to the bakery? Does Denise give you a list of choices as far as filling and cake? TIA!!

Another question: How are favors set up? Im not sure if its allowed, but I was looking to have a table set up for a breakfast buffet.

im not sure divabride, but that's a good question. let me know if you find out. i was also thinking about setting the favors up on a separate table for guests to take as they leave. in a martha stewart mag she sets the favor boxes up in the shape of a wedding cake! im not sure im that crafty but its an idea...

I'm very glad to hear that the food was very good since this was the number 1 think on my fiancee's list.

Do you think that the room is big enough for 180 people? I'm worried that the dance floor in particular will be too small. Both are families are dancers and that's one of my important features to ensure no one is bumping into each other - I don't want it to feel like a club

Also, I didn't realize that the restaurant would be open if you don't book it - I don't like that. plus if it rains I don't think the cocktail area will fit everyone.

My fiancee didn't like that the CH and reception will be in the same room but it sounds like you all made out pretty well but we will likely have to book the extra room if we decide to go with it.

Any thoughts?? Thank you in advance for your feedback

You will be fine if you have 180 people. We had a little less then that, plus a nine piece band and there was plenty of room. I would definitely suggest getting the other room as well. We had it and it was really great. I really dont think there would be anything going on it anyway, but the way the set it up is so pretty. HTH. Any questions, feel free to FM me

The restaurant is NOT open in the sense that people will come to dine there. But it is my understanding that they can hold a smaller party like a christening or bar mitzvah at the same time. During the cocktail hour, they have a wall seperating the cocktail hour and the ballroom. Once the cocktail hour is over, they retract the wall and your guests are free to roam around. With 180 guests though, I would recommend renting out the additional room. This will also guarantee the use of that bar for the remainder of the night.

Thanks for the feedback

We will definitely get the extra room simply because if it rains I don't think the cocktail area will be large enough.

I REALLY appreciate the input...we are really torn but I must say that hearing all these wonderful things really sways me in the Hamlet direction!

We took the extra room too and I would think it's especially a good idea if you're having a daytime wedding. We have had lunch there twice (once when there was a wedding going on in the other room) and it wasn't crowded, but there were golfers and Hamlet residents there eating lunch too.

I think we might end up with approx. 180 people too and they say the room holds over 200. The only thing is, I think we'll end up with lots of tables of 12 people and that seems crowded to me. And I am a little concerned that the dance floor might be crowded, but I'm not gonna worry about it.

Hey Kellwolfe! We're leaning towards a 6-piece bad that will take up less room than a 9 or 10-piece group, but it's still up in the air.
