I knew mine was 'the one' because it was the very last dress I tried on and I didn't find anything I didn't like or wanted to change on it.
Further, my mother who passed away in 2006 gave me the CD single 'I Hope you Dance' b/c I was down and out one year; it has always been 'our' song.......so when I came out of the dressing room my sisters are crying and I hear the song on the radio...it was crazy! She was 'the one'
Wow- you made me cry with that post!!!
I'm sorry....I still think my Mom picked it for me! Getting married w/out your mother is rough but I have great family!
That's crazy that the song came on at that moment. If a song came on that my dad might have sang to me in the past, even if i HATED the dress, i would HAVE to get it lol.

i agree with barb...go by yourself!!!!!!!!!! its your choice. almost all of the places i looked i went on my own. i took my MOH the first time i looked. and i took my mom when i ordered.
you know what you will feel best in. go around and narrow it down. then when you are ready, go back with ppl
and the best thing about going on your own...no one pressures you to buy!! cuz you say, o, i need my mom to see it...and then the shut up. lol

Re: 'the one'?
i feel like there is more than 'the one'. Honestly i think i was soooo frustrated when i went dress shopping because everyone says you're supposed to like, feel this magical feeling and start crying when you put on 'the one' and i didn't feel that, i thought everything looked nice... so i started to get discouraged especially when a girl in the salon said to me 'you should cry when you put it on and thats how youll know!' and my bridal consultant was like 'don't worry, just so you know i didn't cry when i found my wedding dress'... so i ended up choosing one i felt looked great on me and wasn't too heavy/uncomfortable, and got the best reaction from everyone i brought with me..

Re: 'the one'?
i love my dress...dont get me wrong...but there are a lot of other dresses i think are beautiful and would probably love also. I dont know if theres definitely just 'one' dress out there....but its about finding one that makes you happy and you can picture youself wearing on your wedding day.

Re: 'the one'?
I found 'the one' the first day I went for dresses. I loved everything I had tried on before, but when i put this one one I got a feeling. I am sure if I kept trying on dresses there would be others that gave me the same feeling (which is why I stopped immediately - I can be very indecisive).
Same thing goes with FH. I do not believe is soul mates. But I do believe he is the best person out there for me (that I have met). I am sure there are 100s of other people I am compatible with, but we are in love and happy and I stopped searching after we met.
Same rules apply for dress and FH. LOL

Re: 'the one'?
Great Question! I am in the same boat and I am getting frustrated!!!I Now have less then a year to my wedding and I don't have my gown - I want 'the one' feeling but that has not happened to me yet!
I really, really really like 3 dresses, and they are totally different form each other.
I feel like I should have 'the one' feeling - but after reading all of you stories - I feel better about not having 'the one feeling'
thanks

Re: 'the one'?
i like the pronovias dress the best
eta: i think there can be multiple the ones, maybe given a different budget i'd have a diff 'the one', but you have to pick the dress that suits you and is what you were looking for, that makes you feel good and fits within your budget, so it may be multiple ones

Re: 'the one'?
I dont think there is the one because there are thousands of dresses that could potentially look great on you and that you feel beautiful in. You could probably wear a different wedding dress every day of your life and feel amazing in it...I think its more of a psychological thing

Re: 'the one'?
I too found a few that I would love to wear on my wedding day and that looked great. But I felt that out of the few, there was only one that was really 'me.' Also, I kept thinking about it moreso than the others.

Re: 'the one'?
I'm with you Adriana......I'm so indecisive that there are plenty of dresses out there that could've been the one for me. As a matter of fact, I had found 'the two' lol.
But the one I picked was because I just couldn't stop thinking about it. I'm sure if I kept looking, I may have found a THIRD that I would've loved, and I didn't want to then have to choose from three.

Re: 'the one'?
Hm.. this is a tough one. I just purchased my dress today at Kleinfeld's. I went on Tuesday and the first dress I tried on I had that 'wow this is beautiful' reaction with a huge smile and saw mother and sister react the same way. The thing was I pictured myself in something different (with beading on top and plain bottom with not much pick up) so I left Kleinfelds and went looking around all day yesterday and nothing gave me that same reaction. I went to Kleinfelds today put that dress on and the same reaction was there purchased it and as I was leaving a dress another bride to be had on caught my attention. If it were up to me I would have a different dress for every hour of the day! As long as future husband loves it thats all that matters.

Re: 'the one'?
People kept saying when you put on the one you will know and that did not happen. I do think my dress was the one for me but, its not bc of some feeling I got the first time I tried it on lol. I could not stop thinking about it when i left the store, I couldnt sleep bc I was obsessing over it, it had everything I wanted in a dress and I had tried on a lot of others that didnt have it all.

Re: 'the one'?
Ahh, you girls just made me feel so much better. I'm a very indecisive person and didn't really get that feeling. All I can say is that I sort of felt it when they put my veil on and turned down the lights. I immediately said, 'I have to have this veil'. Also, I went back to my dress 3 times in between trying on other. It didn't have that completely traditional look that I had thought I wanted and it made me nervous to get something a little different. I think we're all so stressed out that it's normal to wonder if you're making all the right decisions. I'm sure everyone will look beautiful on their big day
