Put some fake hair in their real hair to make the updo look bigger? In the midst of my hair crisis, my hair dresser decides to quit her job. She said she would still do the hair for the wedding, but I just don't trust it... Soooo since I'm getting my makeup done at MAC in Nordstrom in Roosevelt Field, I'm going for a trial when I come into NY, at The Edge in Roosevelt Field. Since I'm going for the updo, I want to really go all out... I want big. I have fairly long hair, but it's not thick. I want it to look like this.... But I think I'll need some fake hair... Has anyone ever done this or know a bride who did? What did they use? Was it noticeable??? Did it look like horse hair?
I just found out a couple of months ago that DH friends wife has 'fake' hair, you cant even tell her extentions look so real, If done right there should be no prob, Def try it first though just in case

As long as the hair is hidden in the updo, you won't notice a thing. BUT not every stylist is comfortable using fake hair, I know mine wasn't. Why don't you go for a trial without it and see how it looks.

A good friend of mine added fake hair to make her undo look bigger (her hair was fine). You couldn't tell at all! The only reason I knew is I was in the wedding party and got ready with her.

Check with brooklynbridezilla - I think she is using extensions in her hair.

My dearest friend used fake hair and it looked fantastic.
With the updo you ahowed- it would also be relatively easy (I would think) for your stylist to put something on top of your head and pin the hair around it (giving the added height you want). Stylists are trained in working with lots of different hair types. Also- you'd be amazed the volume you'll get with back-combing.....

It's almost to the middle of my back, so it's not even the length that I'm worried about, it's the thickness.. So I figured some added hair woulld help add to the height and fullness of the updo.

I have long hair, and the Hair Genie is putting extensions in mine because my hair is thin.

A good friend of mine had extensions and they looke AMAZING! The only complaint she had was that it took her and her FH forever to get all of the pins out after the wedding!!

hair genie put extensions in two of my BMs hair the day of my wedding because they both have very thin hair, and they both loved it! they way she wove it into their updos you couldn't tell at all and they never even had a trial.

Tarale used hair extensions for my updo and it looked great..you couldn't tell at all that it wasnt my own hair.
