Just wondering if anyone has had any positive/negative experiences buying furniture from The Place Furniture Gallery on Glen Cove Rd. in Carle Place? They have a sectional there that DH and I are interested and it's priced much less than the similar one at Crate & Barrel. Thanks!

i love it there, i think they are just a lot pricer than some other places. we went to rooms unlimited to price out a wall unit, and then we went to 'the place' in farmingdale to see if they had it, and it was 1000 dollars more!!! they basically met the price but couldn't beat it.

We bought a couch from them and it's beautiful - but we had a lot of trouble actually getting it..... Bit of a long story..... we went in to order two couches and put a small down payment on it because we wanted to look a bit more. after looking more that day at other places, we decided to buy from The Place, so we put down the rest of the deposit. They told us it would be 6-8 weeks ( i think ) for delivery....which would have been perfect because that was right as we would be returning from our honeymoon. we called about 7 weeks later and were told the couches were NEVER ORDERED!!! The girl who took our deposit payment never forwarded the paperwork, so it had never gone through.... They told us it would be put on a rush order and would be in as soon as possible. we were ok with that becasue mistakes happen. the next day, DH got a call from the store telling him that one of the fabrics we chose for a couch was discontinued....so we had to go in and chose a new one. it became a problem because it was a deep red that coordinated with the plaid we chose for the other couch and they had no other choices in red in a similar fabric.....so now we have two couches in the colors we wanted, but two different fabrics, which is a bit annoying - especially since one collects a lot more cat hair than the other one - and that is the couch my white cat Gunnar (evil) likes to sleep on.
so, they have nice furniture - just make sure it is ordered when they say it is.....

we went the other day for a sectional! They have such nice stuff there - but the sectionals are a little pricey. We went across the street to Macy's and got a great deal.

Palebride- it's weird that you should mention the delivery problems because that was what most of the complaints seemed to be about on BBB's website.
Hbradio - we actually looked at Macy's too! We couldn't find a sectionial that was quite as comfy though! It's really sad that the one we saw at The Place is still like $2000 LESS than the one we saw at Crate & Barrel
But the consensus is that the quality of the furniture is good? DH thinks there must be something really 'special' about the C&B couch since it's that expensive. But I think it's mostly the label, right?

the quality of our couches is great - so i can't complain about that.....we aren't particularly careful with our couches and they still look great..... i would totally recommend them (as long as you keep in touch with them about the delivery, that is)

They said we could have it in 6-8 weeks, which is so much better than C&B's 13 weeks. I want my new couch now! If we order, I'll definitely be sure to follow-up and make sure the order was put through!
