The Riviera

The Riviera

I had gone to a wedding a few years ago at The Riviera and really enjoyed it. I made an appointment to see it. Recently though, people have been giving me disappointing reviews. Has anybody recently been there and liked it?

I saw The Riviera as well and it was in my top 2 for a while. I'm still not 100% sure if it's off my list yet, but there were only a few reasons it might...

Not many places to take pictures (only matters really if you're getting married on site - which I plan on doing)

If you have your ceremony outside, there are peoples backyards in the back drop.

Big reason - The indoor cocktail hour doesn't hold enough people. I plan on having about 180 ppl and it only held I believe 120-130 something like that. You choose either indoor OR outdoor, so that was big for me bc I know I'm not happy when I go to a wedding and have to stand up balancing my dish while holding my pocket book at the cocktail hour.

and to me the Basic Menu wasn't enough - I would need to take some upgrades.

Other then these few things - I LOVED IT THERE. I loved the room, the water and just the overall feel of the place. And of course - 1 wedding at a time and at a great price. I think it might be still in the running. Have to bring FH with me.

It's between Swan Club and Riviera. 2 very different places. But they both have 'something' I love.

I went to a wedding there about two years ago and it was nice, nothing that i remember that blew my mind but nothing that was horrible either.

I have booked the Riviera for next June and you can actually have an 'indoor/outdoor' cocktail hr. If the weather is nice, the food stations will all be outside, but you can definitely have your guests mingle and wander in and out. If it rains then I could see the size of the room being a problem.

I'm aiming for 130 guests attending, my fiance is hoping for 150. I do think smaller is better there. The tasting we had was wonderful, I love the views and the more rustic, laid back vibe.

The Riviera in Brooklyn is fabulous...my older son had his wedding there and people are still talking about it. They have a private outside area with a waterfall, gardens etc. The food and service is wonderful too.
