The Rolling Pin bakery

The Harbor Club has changed their bakery to The Rolling Pin. I have not been there, but have been on their website. I am not that impressed as of yet. Did anyone get their cake from The Rolling Pin? Any pics? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I didn't get my cake there, however, my family shops there frequently. Everything is always yummy!

ok...well that is good to know. I am not a fan of the pics of the cakes. Hopefully they can make one if I bring a pic.

Any suggestions for cake filling flavors?

VYC changed from audreys to rolling pin...i was NOT impressed with rolling pins customer service....i was told that I can come get samples but i could not meet with someone to design my cake...i had to do it through email...even when i explained that i was from out of town they just said to do it by email.......that made me very mad.
When I was told the owner would call me right back.....it ended up being 3 days later!!! GRRRR

i asked if i could still use audreys since that is who it was when i signed my contract and we know the owner too...so he let us and our cake is going to be soooo yummy

so long story short...never ate the baked goods but the CS.....not so hot

Love Rolling Pin! They made the cake for the last 2 wedding I've been to, and they were both FABULOUS! Search the boards, I know I posted pics of my cousins cake that came from there a while ago...

That will REALLY piss me off. My RH also used a different bakery when I signed the contract and we have become friendly with the RH Manager. Hopefully he will get involved should that need to happen. I really want a cake that both looks and tastes GREAT!

Love them! We got our cake from there and it was delicious. Our guests raved about it and they followed my instructions on what I wanted to the letter. They were great to work with and really helped us figure things out. Bottom tier was vanilla cake, chocolate mouse filling; middle tier was vanilla cake, lemon mouse filling; top tier chocolate cake raspberry mouse filling. You don't get a 'take home tier' though. They make you a replica cake for your 1 yr anniversary. Just bring in photos of cakes that you are interested in, and they can work with you on shapes, colorings, flavors, etc. They were great, and very easy to work with, especially considering that we no longer live on LI.

Here's a pic of ours:

That's really surprising. They met with us on 3 occasions and were always super accommodating.

No, I think one was chocolate mousse. But I know that they will give you giant cupcakes to do the tastings...at least thats what they gave my cousin.

Re: The Rolling Pin bakery

I'm at the same RH as you. I actually just talked to Matt about the cake last weekend. He said you can deal with him and he will work with the bakery for you or you can call them directly and go in for a tasting and meet with the bakers.

I haven't called them yet b/c FH and I aren't ready to do the cake just yet, but I plan on going in for a tasting and to show pictures that I have and discuss it. I would feel more comfortable than having Matt relay my ideas. I would rather do it myself, though I don't doubt him. He also said they can do a lot of different things, just depends if they charge extra for things or not. I'm not going with any of the cakes Matt showed me or that are on the Rolling Pin website either!

Yes. I do not like anything that is on their brochure or on their website. I have some pics, so hopefully they can do one without charging a lot extra. If they do I might as well go somewhere else. I think Matt said there was some sort of credit if we went somewhere else. There is an amazing bakery 'cakes by Jay' http://jayscakecouture.com/

Oh I never asked Matt about what would happen if we went somewhere else. I don't want to make it more difficult, but I don't want to spend more money. Hopefully within the next month we'll be able to head over there and see what they can do for us. I have a few pictures and ideas in mind. Matt seemed to think I wouldn't have a problem with them though. So we'll see!

Re: The Rolling Pin bakery

I went to a wedding...4 years ago, I guess, and the cake was absolutely AMAZING and it was from Rolling Pin--like, I had 3.5 slices of the thing--I stole slices from friends that were up and dancing! lol I don't remember all of the flavors, I know the cake was white, and there was a lot of chocolate ganache (including the outside). DE-LISH!
