The Ruination of Songs by Memories

The Ruination of Songs by Memories

I am feeling kind of pissy that I ruined the only awesome-all-the-way-through-I-love-all-the-songs CD of my entire life (Jeff Buckley's Grace) because Mojo Pin is linked in my brain to unfavorable memories of a guy in college.

KC and JoJo - ALl My Life is similarly marred, but I do not care about that so much

Do you have any songs that make you remember something or someone that you don't want to remember? So now you always change the radio if that song comes on, or skip to the next song. (but of course it is too late cause your brain has already processed it and taken you back in time......)

Matrix

I hate watching movies more than once anyway though (beyond Christmas classics) so I am mostly unaffected in that way.

I also feel this way, thought I was the only one. I have no reason why, I just don't enjoy them after having already seen them. Do you have any reason that isn't completely random??

I have zero attention span. It is SO hard for me to stay focused when I already know the ending. and the beginning. and the middle

Akira actually reminds me of someone I remember fondly.

there are a few songs that have been ruined for me...songs that I LOVED that now to hear send a knife throw my heart.

the biggest offender is Crazy for You by Madonna. I hope to never hear that song again if I can avoid it.

a few others used to hurt me immensely to hear, b/c I felt there were 'stolen' from me in the first place...and like Bono says 'I'm stealin it back'

most notably 'Say a Prayer' Duran Duran and 'Why Should I Cry for You' Sting.

I just focus on the song, me, and why I love them...if negative thoughts jump in, they get the smackdown.

I feel like most songs from 1995-2002 remind me of something/someone that I don't want to remember

A lot of songs are attached to memories for me... but I don't mind remembering stuff... even bad stuff.

Stars by Hum and Bake My BIscuit by Mazzy Star remind me of my first heartbreak. But I still loooove listening to those songs anyway.

Mad World by Tears for Fears, Locomotion by OMD and I Know Him So Well from the musical 'Chess' bring me back to my first huge and massive crush.

Name by Goo Goo Dolls and Ringfinger by NIN remind me of a friend who devastated me.

Always by Patsy Cline makes me remember how my parents would stop in the middle of everything and dance whenever they heard Patsy Cline anywhere. And it makes me miss them so badly that I physically hurt.

Now I need to download these songs again.

Ugh, songs totally haunt me, and they are always some of my favorites that get 'ruined.' i am incapable of turning the dial though, or not playing them myself. I like to torture myself apparently.

Insensitive, Jann Arden
With or Without You, U2
Ghost, Indigo Girls
Right Here Waiting, Richard Marx
