Clearly I am a “newbie” since this is only my second post but I figured where else to ask for some advice than here… The FH has been WONDERFUL for the past 3 weeks, we’ve seen close to 20 different Venues/RH and are looking forward to putting a cap on our search and simply go back and weigh the pros/cons of each. We’re not too picky, we just want to make sure we visit every possible location before making our final decision. Here’s the list of places that we’ve seen so far… I really hope I haven’t missed any but if your suggestions jog my memory I will be sure to let you know =)
Westchester/Upstate Area:
Abigail Kirsch At Tappan Hill Glen Island Harbour Club The Fountainhead The Riverview Westchester Manor Bear Mountain Inn Beckwith Pointe Castle on the Hudson Lyndhurt Castle
Long Island:
Watermill Villa Lombardis Flowerfield Land’s End The Venetian Yacht Club The Crestwood Manor Larkfield Manor Huntington Harbor Club Mill Ridge Inn Garden City Hotel Fox Hollow East Wind
Coming this week:
Oheka Castle Chateau La Mer Bridgeview Yacht Club Allegria Hotel Majestic Gardens Cold Spring Harbor Country Club Westbury Manor
Any other Must-See suggestions before we put a cap on our list and finally pick?!
To help narrow the list down… The things that we are looking for:
*GREAT FOOD! *One Wedding at a time. We understand that another “event” might be going on but if we can help having another bride in her suite next door to ours that would be steller ;) *Décor that does not need extra help to it (If we can refrain from adding extra lighting simply to pin-spot centerpieces or up-light the walls that would be ideal)
Also! If anyone is interested in what we thought the pros/cons were of each of these places let me know, we took great notes :P
Thanks ladies! <3!!!

Have you looked at the Thatched Cottage??
We looked at 12 places, and they by far give you the most food! they are also only 1 wedding at a time.
Oh awesome! I'm going to look them up right now, thank you!

Im getting married at the Allegria. it is beautiful! You will read alot of bad things on here from before they opened (there were major delays and such), but I have ben there a few times socially and it was great! I also went to a cocktail party there a few weeks ago, and everything was FAB!!!
The max in the room is 200, so I am more then sure they will accomodate you! FM me if you have any other questions!

Hehehehehehe is someone being a little biased... I t'ink soooo!!! ;)
Nahh I'm just kidding thanks for the comment I'll look into it and let the FH know...
We've gotten to the point where we just want to book already though, I think we've narrowed it down we just need a little something extra in order to push us one way or the other...
That and two out of the three places we are thinking of dont do showcases so we have no idea how the food is :/

what did you narrow it down to??
we can help!
and you should tell the places that you don't want to book without a tasting
ORRR having your booking be contingent on a tasting
we booked our place a few weeks ago and we are having our tastign tomorrow
we get our money back if we are not satisfied

As of right now we're torn between Fountainhead (upstate - has a SICK lighting system and room for us/two bridal suites and a suite for my FH), Huntington Harbour Club, Venetian Yacht Club, and East Wind
Any help or input would be appreciated but keep in mind that we're still seeing 8 more places this week - the main one is Grand Prospect Hall :)
You girls are the best

Re: The Search for the Perfect Location Continues...
I have been to weddings at both Huntington Harbor and Venetian Yacht Club
I was a BM In a wedding at Venetian Yacht Club
out of the two, I liked Venetian better...but they are very similar!
I like the ballroom at Venetian better...food at both places is pretty comparable
and they both have the nice CH with waterview!

Re: The Search for the Perfect Location Continues...
You have to see Westbury Manor its a Scotto brothers RH and they are well known for their fab and over the top food!!!!!!!!!!! The guests get 7 entrees to pick from!!!!!!!! The grounds have exotic birds all over. They have a peacock family that roams the grounds!!!!!!!! They have treated me like a queen ever since I stepped foot in there!!!!!!!

Re: The Search for the Perfect Location Continues...
If you like modern, this is not the place for you!!!!!!!!!!!! It is very vintage, it is actually a victorian mansion, so it doesn't have that big RH feel to it.

Re: The Search for the Perfect Location Continues...
The only other one I can think of is brooklyn botanical gardens (they have a caterer). I went there if you have any questions you can FM me.
Also I am getting married at oheka which I see you are visting, so you can ask me anything about that as well :)
Goodluck looking! It was a hard decision for us with alot of ups and downs--- it took us over 30 places and 7 months (we are the extreme of it though).

We are going to both of those places this weekend... And can you imagine... By Saturday night we will have seen 31 places all together and only started this process on March 26th... Tell me that isn't nuts LOL
We're going a little insane with it haha
But congrats on Oheka!!! That's super happy!!!

Re: The Search for the Perfect Location Continues...
I'm a WM bride so I'm partial to them But you should check out Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage - I went to a wedding there back in 2008 and it was one of the best weddings I've ever been to.
