The Search for the Perfect Location Continues...

Original post by SoonToBeMrsONeill

Hey Ladies,

Clearly I am a “newbie” since this is only my second post but I figured where else to ask for some advice than here… The FH has been WONDERFUL for the past 3 weeks, we’ve seen close to 20 different Venues/RH and are looking forward to putting a cap on our search and simply go back and weigh the pros/cons of each. We’re not too picky, we just want to make sure we visit every possible location before making our final decision. Here’s the list of places that we’ve seen so far… I really hope I haven’t missed any but if your suggestions jog my memory I will be sure to let you know =)

Westchester/Upstate Area:

Abigail Kirsch At Tappan Hill
Glen Island Harbour Club
The Fountainhead
The Riverview
Westchester Manor
Bear Mountain Inn
Beckwith Pointe
Castle on the Hudson
Lyndhurt Castle

Long Island:

Watermill
Villa Lombardis
Flowerfield
Land’s End
The Venetian Yacht Club
The Crestwood Manor
Larkfield Manor
Huntington Harbor Club
Mill Ridge Inn
Garden City Hotel
Fox Hollow
East Wind

Coming this week:

Oheka Castle
Chateau La Mer
Bridgeview Yacht Club
Allegria Hotel
Majestic Gardens
Cold Spring Harbor Country Club
Westbury Manor

Any other Must-See suggestions before we put a cap on our list and finally pick?!

To help narrow the list down… The things that we are looking for:

*GREAT FOOD!
*One Wedding at a time. We understand that another “event” might be going on but if we can help having another bride in her suite next door to ours that would be steller ;)
*Décor that does not need extra help to it (If we can refrain from adding extra lighting simply to pin-spot centerpieces or up-light the walls that would be ideal)

Also! If anyone is interested in what we thought the pros/cons were of each of these places let me know, we took great notes :P

Thanks ladies! <3!!!

Totally agree about Nick at CLM...he is FABULOUS! But just an FYI...he is not the owner. George is the owner and is equally fabulous. We LOVED having our wedding there!

Yes, George is awesome too. We met him and Nick the first time went there, and loved them both

I was going to suggest Crest Hollow (because I love it) but you said one wedding at a time so that's out. They only do two at a time (and that's based on booking of course, time of year, etc.)

Try Swan Club? Or North Ritz Club? Those were our runner-ups.

Swan Club isn't one wedding at a time either.

Re: The Search for the Perfect Location Continues...

oh and the service at the westbury manor is PHENOM!!

I swear I would totally book this place if I wasnt booked already...the service alone sold me...

fox hollow was nice= but I dont like the fact that you see other brides walking around- that kinda freaked me out- but the food was great and so was the service

Lands end- I liked- but the lady I spoke to was a moron.. and was rushing me out of there...

GOOD LUCK!!

You are looking for a place to guarantee less than 140? What month do you want to get married? I am only asking because a lot of the places on your list have minimums much higher than 140. Ex: Oheka Castle. Now, depending on the month, the minimum may be less. I don't know about the upstate venues though.

Have you tried Giorgio's? It has a beautiful view. The rooms do not need anything! You could leave them exactly as they are and it would be beautiful. I'm only doing centerpieces. Thats it! The food is out of this world. I mean, so good. And the people there are so nice. I would add it to your list.

Also try the Harbor Club in Huntington.

OK out of the places Ive seen which is ALOT

my must see choices would be

Inn at New Hyde Park

Royalton

North Ritz Club

Land's End( i know you already saw)

The Woodlands

Bourne Mansion

it might help us a bit more if you told us your price point

you have 60 dollar per person places on your list and 200++ places on your list!

Haha I know!! I'm sorry! we pretty much want to 'see it all' and then make our decision. We're willing to extend ourselves a little bit depending on the price. Land's End was a shoe in but all of the Saturday nights in May were already booked.

Basically we're trying to find a place that will guarantee a minimum of <100 and no more than $160 pp.

And we're doing the Oheka Castle thing for fun :P Hehehe, but you never know... I'd be willing to scratch the centerpieces and set up an iPod with a speaker for the night if it meant having it there!

I am getting married at Majestic Gardens. It's sooo pretty and the food is AMAZINGG!! They have a showcase on april 27th tuesday from 6:30-9:30 you get to taste some food and see the room set up with different colored linens and diff centerpieces. They are only one wedding at a time.

Yeah! We're seeing them on Friday and also made reservations for their showcase! Thanks for the heads up though, maybe we'll bump into each other :)

We have not ruled out any except for a few... Either because the style just did not fit the look we were going for and in one case the banquet manager was a complete turn-off and a half...

By Saturday I think that we'll have hit almost 30+ venues... tell me that isn't insane. I should just open up my own RH

Huntington Harbour Club is still on the list though so congrats!!! That place's menu makes my mouth water every time i read it! hahaha

I would look at the Vanderbilt Mansion at Dowling. Their max is 170, so a smaller affair can definitely be accomodated. They keep the mansion and outside open the entire time.

We went there already!!! I don't think that it had the overall look we were going for though :/

And the minimum they gave us was our entire guest list hehehe

Have you looked at the Thatched Cottage??

We looked at 12 places, and they by far give you the most food! they are also only 1 wedding at a time.
