The Sims 2, anyone?

Anyone else playing? I love how it's so generational now, the kids grow up. I made sims of me and FH. I'm hoping our duaghter' 'try for baby' worked and we'll be gradnparents soon!

I used to play the original one. That game is so addicting, I used to stay up all night playing it.

Yep, they grow up and if you have them the old fashioned way (as opposed to adopting) they take on the traits of their parents. Now they have aspirations to fulfill and fears to avoid and MEMORIES. It's a much more complicated game now. I'm loving it! The age, grow old and die. You cn ahve many generations of the same family and ahve the families marry each other and intertwine. it's really cool. You can invite the headmaster over to get the kids into private school, you can go meet other sims at the stores or community pool. You can even go steal back your garden gnome if the neighbors steal it.

The mew game is much better. it used to be that you would keep them happym make firneds get them to teh top of their careers, then they'd get fired and you' d start over. now they age and have wants and needs. You can see on the screen what they want to do and doing it gets rewards and increases mood. There are REALLY cool items you can buy with the rewards points. AND you cna now talkt to and itneract with the maid, foirefighter, mailman and they cna all be your frined! and I LOVE the weddings! SO CUTE! Now you propose, complete with ring and have a wedding party. You also have birthdya parties when the sims grow up. i love it!

I don't get 'The Sims' at all. I mean I know it's a game of sorts but what do you mean you 'made' Sims or they are generational?

(We don't have playstation or X box so I'm so out of the loop)

What machines can you play them on? Is it only X Box or playstation?

Re: The Sims 2, anyone?

It's for PC. Sims are people, and you deicde what they look like, waht their personality traits are, etc. in the new game you have GREAT control over what your sims look like, so you can really make them look womewhat like who you want them to look like. You control their daily interactions, cooking, eating, interactions with toher sims, gettng a job, etc. There are also pre made sims with pre made relationships. The original was the best selling PC game of all time, and that's not including all of the expansion packs.

I think they're coming out with a console version called urbz, but I don't know how that will differ from the regular PC game. Just beware it takes a pretty powerful machine to run the game and I needed more RAM ( I needed more RAM anyway) but it requiers at least an 800MHZ processor if you have a realy good vide card. With a not so good video card you need a 2 gig processor, so bear that in mind. I've had no problem with the game and my computer is 4 years old, I just had to add some RAM which I needed to do anywya since I installed windows XP.

The concole version is coming out..I don't know when. I don't know what consoles it'll be for. but it's 'urbz, sims in teh city, so id on't know what that is. Nothing's going to be as involved as te PC version

And this is a game? Do you 'win' or 'lose'?

It just sounds like you make them 'do things'. I go to work every day so I don't know if I would care to go home and make a computer generated character do it all over again.

Maybe I'm missing the point???

I hear about it all the time and how cool it is so maybe I am.

Re: The Sims 2, anyone?

The original game was veyr open ended and had no pbjective. now they have short term and long terms goals and wants to fulfill. it's muhc more involved. It doens't sound nearly as cool as it is. It's a relly great game.

ETA you really don't win or lose, the game cna go on forever, but since characters cna die, it puts time limit on things and the game is so involved because you have generations of characters. Some of the pre set Sims have challenges already to overcome. It's just a really neat game.

Re: The Sims 2, anyone?

OK, I went to AltaVista, put in Sims and I found out that there is already a Playstation and an X Box version! Yay, I might just have to buy myself a present!

Re: The Sims 2, anyone?

is Urbz out? If you buy..What is it 'Sims, Bustin' Out' That's the console version of the original game, not of the Sims 2. I know nothing about the console versions, but I would wait for the new on, I know for PC The SIms 2 is SO much better and more involved than The Sims.
