I was wondering if anyone has booked the Thatched Cottage in Centerport.

Re: The Thatched Cottage
I am not getting married there! But my FBIL did 2 years ago and it was wonderful! Too bad the weather was horrible that day! The food was really good and the room really nice with a pretty view!

Re: The Thatched Cottage
i'm a thatched bride too and i just replied to your fredericks studio thread. we had looked and when we went there, on a whim, we loved it right away. it is perfect for our families b/c we are huntington/northport people, and we wanted a wedding by the water! i asked about the low tide smell and a manager told us that they close the tide gates on thursdays, so water will be high tide the whole weekend and it will not smell like fish! i love the idea of windows, especially since we are having a day wedding. i don't like rooms that you can't see light, and it freaks me out if there is a fire. sorry, seen too many movies. the food tasting was awesome, and hopefully we'll have a sunny day and the weather will cooperate and the ceremony will be beautiful. i have a lot of faith in the place. fmil and my gparents have been to weddings there and raved about them!

I am also a Thatched Cottage bride and have nothing but wonderful things to say about them so far !!! We went there based solely on other people's recommendations and fell in love with it. It has such a romantic feel to it !!! Let me know if you need any info as well.
FI's coworker went to a wedding there a couple of months ago and even he said it was fabulous. I had given him a list of things to look for(I am very anal !!!) and he raved about the place !!!

Re: The Thatched Cottage
Thatched Cottage was a great help in telling us what to look for and there service was great. They made sure everything was answered. Sad to say, they were second in the Vendor Hall list (choose crest hollow). Crest hollow offered a few more things that i liked then Thatched...others..Thatched was great on price and service

I am going to be a Thatched Cottage bride and have nothing but great things to say about them as well. Have heard great things about the food and service. I love the place, simple yet so elegant. Good luck.

Re: The Thatched Cottage
We liked the Thatched but the room upstairs was too small and we have some handicapped relatives so the room downstairs would have been to hard for my family but besides that I really liked the place we wanted to stay close to Northport so we chose Larkfield Manor instead..

Also a Thatched Bride!! Our wedding is on October 30 - we're going with an 'elegant Halloween' theme. So far, I'm very pleased with what they have offered and the responsiveness to my questions.
Still searching for a photographer - didn't like any of the 'preferred' vendors they had so far. Any of you have suggetions?
P.S. Any of you going with the Mashed Potato Bar!?!?

Re: The Thatched Cottage
Did you try Spelman Studios? We are using them and they are a preferred vendor(or whatever you call that). If you do a search on here, people give rave reviews about their work.
p.s. - I think I may do the mashed potato bar it sounds so good, but our wedding is in August so I don't know how well it will go over.

Re: The Thatched Cottage
I liked Spelman's work online, but the timing to meet them wasn't working (we're in NJ so all our appointments have to be on weekends).
I tried to get to see them to no avail. We booked Verdi this weekend, so we are done with the last big thing we needed to get done!
We have the hall, church, dress, photographer, dj and this weekend is BM and MOB dresses!! Then I can relax for a while!

Re: The Thatched Cottage
I am a cottage bride to be as well. Nothing really new to add that hasnt been said before. It is eactly what I was looking for, simple yet totally elegant. Anyone who has no DJ yet In the Mood is doing a showcase there this Thursday. If interested it seems like it may be worth it to see them play live. Let me know if anyone is interested I have the details.
