The Thatched Cottage

Hi fellow brides,

I am getting married in 2006. Maybe April. I absolutely fell in love with The Thatched Cottage when I saw it a few weeks ago and I think I might book. I've seen some awesome reviews on this place and some bad reviews.

If you are having your wedding here, already had your wedding here, or attended another wedding here, would you mind telling me what you liked /didn't like about the place?

It might just help me ask the right questions. I am looking to have my ceremony and reception here. (Hopefully an outside wedding, even though it's April.)

Thanks all!

:) Well we have a thread on here...
(that I started actually) so check it out!
If it's moved down, do a search and check out the coments.

I will say, that so far...and my wedding is in 4 days...!!!!...I am very happy with them.

My only complaint...and this i've heard from others...was that they either took a very long time to get back to me, or just didn't at times. Also, one of the managers is not very polite in a sort of subtext kind of way. (FM me for more info)

I'm having outdoor ceremony and all too..so check out Bride's Review in a few for mine!!!

Re: The Thatched Cottage

I actually just went to a wedding there on sunday....it was absolutely beautiful.....the best cocktail hour i have ever been to! My FH and I were almost starting to regret that we didn't book there until we went into the reception room which would have been too small for our # of guests (that room was gorgeous too though)....but my friend only had about 125 people while i am having over 200! good luck!

Something to keep in mind, they are right next to the fire departments. A bond was just approved to expand the fire departments. Don't know when or for how long.

It is a beautiful place.

I had my wedding reception at Thatched Cottage and just loved everything about it. Overall I gave it an A+ for my day, they were great, food was delicious and the service was top notch. Everyone thought our reception was phenomenal. You can see my review on 'The Bride's Review' for more details...

Yes, there were some negative posts about TC but I suppose that is the case of all halls.. there is good and bad points in each. For us, they were exactly what we wanted, we were having a less than 100 person reception and the attention to detail was important to us

I will agree with RobNette that my BIG problem with them all along was their poor turnaround in returning calls, or the 'attitude' I felt I received from certain members of staff there. ITs hot or cold on how you might find them on any given day.

But the end result for me was great and our reception was beautiful, so I really cannot complain!! (I did not have a ceremony there so I cannot comment about it.. but its so beautiful outside)

I went to a wedding at the Thatched Cottage.....and it was in April a few years ago. I loved it! It was so beautiful. The cocktail hour was in the back on the lake.....food was great! We had a good time. Go for it!

Good Luck!

My sister had her wedding there 2 yrs ago. It was the BEST FOOD I have ever had at a wedding. Also, there was plenty of it. The service was top notch. My drink was never empty and I didn't wait online once for a drink at the bar. She had her cocktail hour outside with a steel drum band, it was like something out a movie.

The bridal attendant, Mary (not sure if she still works there) was a pleasure. Good Luck with your planning.

I went to a wedding there last June and it was actually beautiful - and one of the nicest weddings we went to in a while.

For the drinkers in your party they might like what we found the best part of the TC - they are excellent about coming to your table with drinks. The service was great - and it is such a pretty setting on the water.

Re: The Thatched Cottage

Thank you everyone. Yes, I've been to the other strings on Thatched Cottage and I caught some of the reviews. The negatives weren't that specific in the other areas so I wanted to see WHY some people didn't like the place. These comments definitely help me. I am having about 100 - 120 people. I really want it on the water and I don't mind if there is another party there, as long as they are not mingling with my party. I don't like the fact that the staff has attitude but I can deal with that. When I first called to make an appt, the receptionist was really nasty and didn't even take down my information correctly. But the reception manager I met with was very nice and very helpful. I'm going to do my tasting and I think this one might be a winner.

Thank you again everyone.
