The times are changing...

Original post by Goldi1021

My sister found the bill from my parent's wedding photographer from their May 27, 1956 wedding as shot by Fred Marcus himself. HE was THE guy at the time. For one wedding album, two parent albums and a few portraits, the bill was $250 plus tax and that was for a NYC hotel wedding. Wow! I don't know how my grandparents didnt go into hock!!!

My sisters wedding...ONLY 5 YEARS AGO!...only cost her $5,000 total and she had it at a very nice catering hall on the water here. It was the most beautiful wedding I've ever been to. And she made it all back in gifts. I'm jealous!

Mom and Dad had their 49th wedding anniversary just about a month and a half before Dad passed away on July 9th. I hope to G-d every one here has a long and good marriage the way they did. For those of you who have the honor to get married on May 27, 2006 consider yourselves blessed and golden as Mom and Dad would have been!

my parents, 7/7/79, Saturday Night at the Huntington Townhouse (it was cool thing back then), $29 per head! The clothing is the only my mom paid more for! Limos were the same, but it was consider high because of the gas strike (yes my parents got married during it).

My parents married in 1953 had 50 people at the wedding, a photographer that gave them an album of slides (that's what they did then) and an accordion player. The whole wedding cost $500!

Talk about old!

My brother's wedding cost $5K in 1984. Both sets of parents split it.

You know what's scary?! That weddings down south are SO much cheaper than up here! But then again, they are in no way as classy as ours...

I wouldnt say that ours are more classy. Just different and more expensive. The 'Runaway Bride was supposed to have a wedding for 600 people with a $50,000 price tag. That cant happen in NY. I am hoping my wedding for 200 people is less than that. I know we will come close.
