The Village

Mr Boots and I watched it last night. I thought it was interesting, but I think I need to see it again to really decide.

Did anyone else see it? What did you think?

Is that the M Night Shamalamadingdong movie?

I haven't seen it, I just remember seeing the stupid 'behind the scenes' thing on it ...

M Night Shamalamadingdong

I got pissed that they revealed so much important stuff in the middle of the movie!

DH and I finally watched this a few nights ago. I liked it better than I thought I would, even though I predicted early on what the 'twist' would be.

Janice... I thought Bryce Dallas Howard was excellent, and Adrien Brody!

i thought it was better then signs and unbreakable. kind of confusing, until you have that 'ohhhhhh, i get it' moment.

I thought the 'twist' was kind of lame .. but that's just me

ETA: I do think the performances were great though.. Bryce Howard is a great actress!

the 'twist' was kind of a non-twist. i mean, you kind of saw it coming, but not really

I knew the ending before I saw it, it seemed less like a horror movie, and more of a study of the utopian society. It's not about the monsters, but the monstrous lengths people will go to for something they believe in or love.

After seeing it I thought that maybe it was marketed incorrectly.

Re: The Village

thats deep, liz. and very true. it definelty was not a 'horror' movie, in the freddy/jason sense. more of a suspense, the ring type of a movie

I absolutely loved it, and really thought that it was soooo underrated. It was definitely more of a cerebral and thought-provoking movie as opposed to his other movies. I like that his movies have so much symbolism, and it seems like with each movie, it's more so.

Liz, I completely agree with you. I liked it a lot - I just wish the commercials at the time didn't set it up to be another Sixth Sense, becasue the whole time I kept waiting for something sinister and scary and after seeing the ending - I thought it was a little misleading. Great movie, but sneaky advertising - I remember a lot of people feeling dissapointed or cheated at the ending...

Good point... I do believe it was marketed incorrectly that's for sure..

I think I just watched it on a bad night, because truly I couldn't stand the movie itself.. I often find I ihave that problem when seeing something in the movies as opposed to at home where I can really pay attention..

I was mad at the character Adrian Brody was made to play..I was hoping to see him in a hot love scene

It was somewhere between Signs and Unbreakable for me, with Signs being a little better and Unbreakable being WAY worse.

ETA: Who is Bryce Howard?
