You know what... he is a dad.. he was getting PO that his daughter tells him to call at a certain time and she never answers (obviously he wants to have a relationship with her), he got really mad and probably shouldnt have called his daughter a Pig but my parents have gotten mad at me and have said much worse, and I got over it, and I knew that it didnt mean my parents didnt love me.
I didnt think anything was wrong with that voice message besides the PIG part. and that wasnt even that bad in my opinion!
What is your take?

i totally agree! i feel like i am in the minority though.
should he have called her a pig? no - but he obviously loves her otherwise he wouldnt care about talking to her!
trust me i know MANY eleven year olds that ARE vile little pigs - and maybe if their parents called them out on it, they wouldnt grow up to be disgusting adults.

Yeah he does get really angry but it seems like this was the final straw, honestly if that was me, i would have probably reacted the same way, i have a tendency to yell (its my personality haha) and yes he wasnt nice, but he was PO>
IF that is true that Kim bassinger released it.. then she is more F'ed up then him. Why air your dirty laundry to the world, plus now everyone will think that her dad really things his 11 yr old daughter is a PIG

Re: the voicemail
i agree..
i mean i had my dad tell me i looked like a lil slut...
i think thats mean but i was like 16 and wearing a hooch outfit what do u expect..
all dads say that..just bc it was part of a hearing doesnt mean it is all of our business.
anything to give someone a bad name..i mean really the media has to get over it.
i work in media..its my area of study...and i thought that was ridiculous today.

I know what you mean, thats why i wont judge bc i have a habit of yelling alot, ive been doing alot better with that lol, and i do go off.
Well thats what someone at work said, and how else would they get the voicemail he left his daughter ya know. Thats what im saying too, people are talking about just him but if she did do this, that was horrible. Dont put your daughters business out there like that just to get back at your ex-husband

Re: the voicemail
the only thing I disagree with is that he called her a little pig. He COULD have said brat or something...
as a parent, I sympathize. There have been PLENTY of times that I felt like throwing my son out the window.

Re: the voicemail
oh I forgot... I heard earlier that they recieved the tape legally (because they were asking who the source was).. so it had to be the daughter or bassinger who released it!
Just to add.. Z100 made a good point this AM, how amny times have you left a message on someomes machine/voicemail when you aere really mad, and wanted to go and delete it after. or how many of you AOL users wrote an email to someone and UNSENT it because you realized you shouldnt say somethings you have said.
I know I have!

Re: the voicemail
OK, it seems like I'm in the minority here, but I was horrified when I heard Baldwin's voice mail message on the radio this morning. I work with kids from troubled families, so I see the results of poor/abusive parenting every day, and I was appalled by how Baldwin spoke to his daughter. She's 11 years old, yet he used profanities in his message and called her mother names: the last thing (IMO) that any divorced parent should do, because it just puts the child in an awkward position. Of course everyone gets angry, but sometimes parents need a timeout, too. Baldwin should have taken one before he picked up the phone!!

I 100% agree! I definitely understand where he is coming from but I think maybe he lost his temper and went a little bit too far with the pig thing...but it seems like his ex and his daughter are in cahoots somehow...that explains why his daughter apparently hardly picks up when he calls her, and that also explains how the voicemail got 'mysteriously leaked'

I am going to disagree with you here, bc while I see your point, there is no evidence that this is ongoing behavior. This is one voicemail. You could see he was frustrated that his attempts at reaching his daughter were being ignored, and while maybe he should've used different language I don't see how this should be anything more than a private issue within the Baldwin family.

Re: the voicemail
i totally agree with you. i think dads can be VERY insensitive sometimes. he sounds like someone who is trying desperately to have a relationship with his daughter and KB keeps trying to sabotage it. i mean she leaked the tape she seems pretty manipulative. usually i think alec baldwin is a pompous a** but i think he is attempting to parent his child from another coast and i think he sounded frustrated which is a sign of caring. and you know what? if you are 12 and have a cell phone paid for by your parents answer the freakin phone when they call! lets demonize the dads who may be nice in person but a) never see their kids and b) don't pay child support. give me a yeller any day over a guy that doesn't care what happens to his kids.
