The wait is killing me!

The wait is killing me!

So I have 11 days until my due date and I know like most first time moms I will probably be late, but I feel like a walking time bomb where things could happen at anytime. As of yesterday I was dialated 1 cm and 50% effaced. Get out of my belly already!

How are the other late Oct mommies doing??

Another first time mom still here...I am due Saturday - only 4 days. As of last week I was only a fingertip dialated and not effaced at all. I'm sure I'll be late too, my dr told me on average, 1st time moms go about 4 days late.

Remember that Due Dates are NOT really due dates, they are total estimates. Erase the whole 'date' from your mind and it will be make you MUCH happier

Not to scare you, I was a first time mom and was not dilated or effaced and went three weeks early (water broke!). Good Luck!

Mu due date was yesterday. As of a week ago I was 1 cm dilated and 70% effaced. I go for another check up tomorrow so I'll post if there's any change.

BTW what does 'effaced' mean?
Thanks!

Re: The wait is killing me!

When your cervix thins out.

From Webmd:

During labor, your cervix gets shorter and thins out in order to stretch and open around your baby's head. The shortening and thinning of the cervix is called effacement. Your health care provider will be able to tell you if there are changes to the cervix during a pelvic exam. Effacement is measured in percentages from 0% to 100%. If there are no changes to the cervix, it is described as 0% effaced. When the cervix is half the normal thickness, it is 50% effaced. When the cervix is completely thinned out, it is 100% effaced

Re: The wait is killing me!

My due date was October 1st and I went into labor 4 days early. I had a doctor's appointment on a Friday, and was 70% effaced and not dialated at all. The doctor told us we should set up a date for induction about 10 days past my due date, just in case. It was a BIG surprise that I went into labor early Monday morning! You just never know I guess. Be prepared just in case

Good luck!!!
