The Walk Down the Aisle

The Walk Down the Aisle

Stupid Question but who coordinates the walk down the aisle--- Is it the officiant, the band leader or ceremony musician or the maitre D.... We are not having our rehearsal... our rabbi does not perform one... Sooooo, I'm confused....

Do you mean, on the wedding day? Do you have a rehearsal at your site w/out the rabbi?

The maitre d will do it. He'll coordinate everyone about 5 minutes before the walk.

Edited to add: you just tell him who is paired up and in what order, and he'll do the rest.

Usually the limo driver does that for you at the church. They space you out and tell you when to go. THey should also fix your dress right before you walk down.

Now I'm really confused.... My rabbi only comes the day of--- he doesn't do rehearsals or the dinners that follow.... So, on the day of the wedding, my fear is that I will mess up the walk- music cues, who walks when, etc.... It is probably a stupid fear, but I really didn't give it any mind until now...

Don't worry. Rabbi's don't rehearse. There is really a lot less than you think to worry about. If you are doing it in the hall, your maitre d will have everything under control. He will probably go over this with you beforehand anyway. He will tell the musicians when to start and stop, and everyeone else when to walk.

Is your ceremony at your reception site, will you be having a rehearsal w/out the Rbbi at all? You can rehearse who walks in what order with out the Rabbi and then that day usuallty the limo driver will tell everyone when to start walking, you'll be fine.

Re: The Walk Down the Aisle

It's different for Jewish weddings because the ceremony and reception are usually in the same place, and there is no such thing as a rehearsal for Jewish ceremonies. The limo drivers would not be helping, because they don't come into the temple or chapel, whichever is being used. In this case, the maitre d will do the organizing, and it will be quick and painless. Do not worry at all.....
