The way in which I shall avoid post-wedding depression...
Hello all! This isn't really wedding related but I just had to share. I was all worried about what it would be like after the wedding. Since I've been engaged over a year and a half, I've forgotten what I used to spend time thinking about... well I've solved the problem. One week after we get back from our Honeymoon, we will be picking up Gonzo from his breeder.... I think he'll manage to keep me quite busy!!!

Valenia- Is that a maltese? If so, I have had mine for ten years and they are the best. Very loyal pals!

I want one...share the info please...I am very much in to smaller dogs, my FI says that is the only way he will consider us getting a dog its if they are small. Could someone/anyone share reputable breeders with me??
Thanks...that is a cute doggie...Congrats

Thank you for all the nice comments.
Good call tarakinspa -- Havanese are very closely related to Bichons. The primary difference is that when this little guy grows up, his hair will be long and straight, while a bichon's is curly and puffy. Havanese also come in many colors.
shamma96- This breed is rather hard to come by, it took me many months to find a breeder willing to give up a puppy not for show. (I live in Massachusetts but will be getting the puppy in Maryland.) I definately recommend looking into Bichon's which have fabulous little personalities and would be easier to find locally. However, if after some research you are sure a Havanese is the best match for your lifestyle, I'd be happy to help.

What a cutie!!! Good luck with you new 'baby'. We just got ours a few months ago...My FH does a lot of traveling so he got me Madaket to keep me company while he is gone, she is an English Bulldog. I just love her to death!
Re: The way in which I shall avoid post-wedding depression...
what a great idea...but honestly...how much work is a dog? (I had one growing up, but of course my parents had to think about the dog)
do you rush home? do you have to wkae up to walk it (I don't have a yard) whats trainign REALLY liked?
We were just saying that our cat needs a friend to keep her company, but I can't see myself as a 2 cat person...lol...and would love to have a dog again, but am worried it would ruin my social life...

A dog is a LOT of work. (unless you can afford to pay a dog walker!) I'm a homebody, and I work very close to home (I will be going home at lunch time to walk him!). You can not leave a puppy home alone much more then 4-5 hours, or an adult dog much more then 8 without being unfair to the dog in my opinion. I live in a condo, so yes I'll have to walk up to walk him (although I'm also considering training him to use a secondnature doggie litter pan as well). This isn't a problem for my lifestyle, but if you have a really active social life and like to go out after a full day of work, a dog probably isn't a good idea right now. Cats are independent, and aren't as emotionally needy. Dogs are like babies, and need a large amount of attention to thrive. Wait until you have kids, they'll ruin your social life, and then theres no problem adding a dog!

Re: The way in which I shall avoid post-wedding depression...
Dogs are soooo much work.. i have two.. not the best of judgements on my part, but i am a sucker for a cute face in a puppy store (which i am no longer allowed to go to LOL ) the training is hard, i had to get two in home trainers for my first dog.. one of us ALWAYS has to be home at the end of the day, and there are no more spur of the moment vacations upstate or anywhere, cause now i have to have them kenneled, and i will only have them kenneled at a anmal hospital..my vet bills would knock your socks off,,, my dogs both have allergies... and the chewing when they are small, is alot!!! my dogs never chewed old shoes or anything like that.. just mp3 players, charles david shoes!!! i always joke now saying my dogs have first class tastes!!! LOL..of course the rewards of these dogs is better than i could have ever hoped for,, holly..my akita,, she is the night watcher at the window when my husband travels (and he travels alot) shes big and has a LOUD bark.. and my little one.. little guy is his name.. hes such a lap dog. LOVES to cuddle up all day...hes soo cute!!! ok ill shut up now!!!
