So i've gone to see a few catering halls so far and it seems like the wedding cake is included in the price. My aunt is a baker and she made my graduation cake last may and EVERYONE loved it, and i know she is going to offer to make my wedding cake as well. How should i go about letting my catering hall know about this? Plus, do you think i should ask for something else since they would not be suppling my cake? Maybe the venetian hour for free, or an extra station at the CH. What do you all think?

We did not use the cake included in the wedding hall. They did give us a few upgrades to choce from. I'm pretty sure they will not offer an entire venetian hour for free since there is a lot that goes into it. They may give you a cocktail hour upgrade. We added an exit table after the reception and a tiki bar at the cocktail hour.

Yeah I would ask for something else b/c you aren't going to use the cake option. They should totally be okay with doing that.

That is nice of her to make a cake...Check with venue as not all will allow outside food from unknown sources due to liabilty issues.....

It's a table they put out when your guests are leaving. It's to give them something refreshing as they leave. We hadlemonade, iced tea, cookies, warm pretzels and a bunch of other stuff.

I know that our venue told us that if we didn't use the cake provided they would give us a credit but then they charged a cake cutting fee so it would ot have been cheaper for us in the end!

The exit table sounds cute! Fountainhead said that they do something like that.
