the whole 'bridal experience'

the whole 'bridal experience'

i feel like im not really getting the whole bridal experience when i book things or my dress place etc. - no fuss over me - no 'WOW ITS YOUR WEDDING HOW EXCITING!'
nothing like that

maybe its becaue i go to some more budget vendors but no one has really made a fuss..esp my dress place..they are no frills but at my first fitting i was pretty much sharing the podium with another girl..sharing the seamstress
i guess its my fault..i chose to go to a place where the dresses are less expensive... i just feel like the wedding day will be here and i never really got tha whole 'wow you're a bride!' feeling

I also feel that way a little bit. But it's not about the vendors. It's about you. Noone will ever be as happy as you are or your family. You don't need them to smile at you and charge you 5 times the price. It's about getting them giving you the best professional job for your day.

I don't think everybody is really enjoying the process unless they pay $$$$$ for a coordinator doing it all for them.

We just have to take care of biz.

You will enjoy your day. That's when everything comes together.

I don't really think I've gotten too much fuss from vendors. But our families are excited. I think as long as you have that, then that's all you need. Vendors deal with weddings all the time, and it's no big thing to them. I also think that the day of your wedding there will be enough bridla fuss to last you for years!

I think thats what makes the wedding day so special...all the planning and the worrying finally pays off...I dont think any of us get the wedding fuss from the vendors since they service the brides ALL THE TIME... Im sure you felt really special and 'bride-y' at your shower...you're going to make a beautiful and feel amazing on your wedding day! Chin up!

I didn't get any of that either, until I changed my ceremony venue. (now, since the vendors have heard it's on the water on the side of a cliff, there is a little enthusiasm - but mostly it is just a comment about how different that is from the average wedding) I thought I would get a little excitement when I ordered by dress, since the salon that I ordered it from didn't actually have it in the store (I tried it on someplace else, but this salon had the better price and is waaaay closer to where I live), and until they pulled the catalog to make sure they were ordering the right one, hadn't seen it.

I haven't really had much fuss either.

The only times I can recall any fuss being made was the first time I went dress shopping, meeting my photographer, and meeting my new florist. (One of the reasons I switched to her, she actually made me excited).

I think as you get closer to the wedding date, everyone will start making a fuss. I'm only starting to see a hint of that now. And then on the wedding day, things will really hit you.

no - i agree with you 100%. i dont think it is the dress shop you chose, or the budget you have, i think its the life you lead.

i have not let my wedding become the 'focus' of my life - i guess i want to say. i have been on overdrive since the day i got engaged with finishing school, work, house hunting, wedding planning, helping friends wedding plan, that i do not have the mentality or the time to hype my wedding day up in my mind. (now granted i am psyched about it but its not all i think about all the time) often i try to find the place that gets whatever i need done the fastest. i want to get in and get out - also part of my personality - i dont procrastinate - i find what i want and i go and get it.

but no matter what the buildup emotions or experiences are - i have never heard a bride say she has not had the time of her life on her wedding day. it will be a day to remember and i am sure you will have so much fun!!

dont sweat it about what your 'supposed' to be feeling - you'l know your feelings the day of and know it was right for you.

feel better

Re: the whole 'bridal experience'

I'm sorry you're feeling this way. I share the feeling of some of the other brides in saying you'll feel like a princess on the day it counts the most...your wedding day! I can empathize with you because sometimes it seems the only other person who gets as excited about my wedding is my MOH. Regarding vendors, they see wedding stuff every day so I guess it's difficult for them to constantly remain excited about it. We'll all be excited with you because...YOU'RE GETTING MARRIED!!!

I feel that way from my family....

Re: the whole 'bridal experience'

These people do this everyday as work. I don't think they are really into being all excited for everyone after a while. Myself, being in the bridal business at one point, was definitely sick at looking at tons of weddings. Your family and friends are the ones that make it special.....don't worry about the vendors. As long as you get what you want :)

i agree with the other girls... wedding vendors deal with brides and wedding stuff CONSTANTLY, so its not really exciting to them.... its a job.
and i don't think anyone will ever be as excited about your wedding as you are... just keep going with it, your day will come, and on that day, NO ONE can take the 'bridal' feeling away from you!

I find that it comes and goes.... some days I don't even want to talk about it, others, I can't stop! I agree with some of the other girls when they say it will be the best day of your life and the planning will be worth it in the end!

I get this from FH's family. they think everything is no big deal and a waste of money. You can't let others bring you down. I try to stay as excited as I rightfully should be!!

Keep your head up and don't let anyone bring you down!!!

i think you are right! i think you put it into perspective for me...i think that im so concerned that other people dont care about my wedding that i put it out of my mind..i think that coupled with being so busy with other things

Re: the whole 'bridal experience'

I didn't feel like that with the vendors so much I think because it's a business deal... the only one I felt somewhat pampered by was Jillian, the make up artist.. she made me feel like a bride..... hence, I booked her!!! but anyway, I am soon to go look for a headpiece and viel... that's bound to make me feel like a bride..... and when we booked our honeymoon... inside, that made me feel like we were getting married.....

these feelings will come.... also with anxiety, but they will come..... and oh when we met with the priest... he was speaking of marriage and what it means to share your life with someone... that really touched me... I almost cried ( and I am not that way).... so, stay in the moment.... you will catch up inside and feel bride like soon!!!!!!
