the whole 'bridal experience'

Original post by Preshy7

i feel like im not really getting the whole bridal experience when i book things or my dress place etc. - no fuss over me - no 'WOW ITS YOUR WEDDING HOW EXCITING!'
nothing like that

maybe its becaue i go to some more budget vendors but no one has really made a fuss..esp my dress place..they are no frills but at my first fitting i was pretty much sharing the podium with another girl..sharing the seamstress
i guess its my fault..i chose to go to a place where the dresses are less expensive... i just feel like the wedding day will be here and i never really got tha whole 'wow you're a bride!' feeling

I didn't feel like that with the vendors so much I think because it's a business deal... the only one I felt somewhat pampered by was Jillian, the make up artist.. she made me feel like a bride..... hence, I booked her!!! but anyway, I am soon to go look for a headpiece and viel... that's bound to make me feel like a bride..... and when we booked our honeymoon... inside, that made me feel like we were getting married.....

these feelings will come.... also with anxiety, but they will come..... and oh when we met with the priest... he was speaking of marriage and what it means to share your life with someone... that really touched me... I almost cried ( and I am not that way).... so, stay in the moment.... you will catch up inside and feel bride like soon!!!!!!

i agree- the honeymoon booking for some reason was the biggest thing that made me feel like a bride

i agree- jillian was great- i had a trial with her- i did not book her but she was very sweet and was probably one of the only people that made me feel like that

I know how you feel. It is sad. No one really asks and if they do it's not with enthusiasm. My cousin got engaged this weekend and her sister in law was so excited for her and it made me sad that I didn't have anyone to share that excitement with me. Oh, well. Just as long and my FH and I have a great day that's all that will matter.

What you are experiencing may be normal. Sometimes, we have expectations of how things 'should' be, so we are disappointed when they do not really work out that way Sometimes, I feel that way with my fiance, I don't understand why he is not excited as I am about all of this, and I feel like I'm not having the 'engagement' experience. But, when I talk to others, I realize that men just do not get excited about this kind of stuff, and if the man proposed then you just know in his heart that he's happy. It's funny, because after seeing your beautiful avitar, I would never have thought that you felt this way.

:

I got excitment from vendors- but it seemed really fake and rehershed

the most excitment came from my freinds and family-

you'll feel like a princess on your wedding day!

I understand what you are saying- but your wedding day is really the true day you are the BRIDE!!
Don't worry, it will all come together for you!!

Re: the whole 'bridal experience'

I might be naive, but I think all of my vendors are excited for me and my FH. I've gotten the bridal experience on a number of occasions, and they're all probably lying to me!

BUT, none of that compares to the experience I had walking into my bridal shower and seeing all the women in my life there celebrating for me and fussing over me. Your fam and friends are the ones who really count when it comes to your wedding. You will, without a doubt, feel like a princess on your big day.

Sorry you feel that way but it's the service that matters most! I have gotten that 'are you excited' question so many times I'm sick of it- esp since I'm not often excited- more often stressed and can't keep explaining that my FMIL is a pain in the you-know-where as good intentioned and well-meaning as she is (she's just too traditional for me!).

Don't worry- as long as you are happy with their service and your are excited ignore what others say or don't say. It's a script for them anyway- I got a call from one vendor who started on business and then went back to give me an unconvincing 'congrats' (I forget who but I don't think I booked them!).

Re: the whole 'bridal experience'

I can understand how you are feeling. I know both sides I work in the bridal business and I am getting married. I love helping people and really enjoy talking about their wedding their plans what flowers they are going to use everything.

When I went for my dress shopping I didn't get that kind of experience so it was odd to me becaues I thought I would....

Just keep your head up ... the joy of getting married and planning a wedding is one thing but the excitement of being married having the person finally yours to share the rest of your life with is even better. so on that day remember what tomorrow will bring and you feel all the excitement your heart can hold :
