The whole drama of the past 2 months... (warning kinda long)
The last couple of months have been really bad for my entire family...
First off I've mentioned a couple of times how hard it has been for me teaching for my first year.. but all the emotional stuff at home hasnt been helping..
Last October my Aunt, who is only a year older than my mom, was diagnosed with Liver Cancer. She passed away on September 6th. It was really hard for my mom and my cousins to get through this. One of my cousins is talking about getting engaged and is all depressed that her mom won't be there with her to do all the wedding stuff.
Then 2 weeks ago, on October 6th, my grandfather passed away. He had been in the hospital for 2 months because he had an infection in his knee. He was a diabetic and had to artifical knees, but his body refused to fight the infection and he stopped eating. So that monday they put a feeding tube in though his stomach and that wednesday he had his leg amputated. It is always very hard for him to recover from anethesia and this was too much for him.. and then that friday morning, he passed away.
NOW... my grandma (who was married to my grandpa) is not doing to well.. she is not coping with the loss of her husband very well. Yesterday we had to bring her to the doctor because she was having trouble breathing and has pretty much given up all hope as well. The doctor suggested we put her in hospice or have someone with her at all times. SOOO Being that i am the only one without any financial responsibilities, i am staying home with her to keep her company and to make sure she is fine and to try to bring up her spirits.
So I went into work today and told my principal, who has been very understanding throughout my family troubles, that I have to resign my position. Again she was very understanding but i feel completely horrible about leaving. The students were finally, albeit slowly, starting to listen and grasp things, and now i need to leave. I don't know what is going to happen now with my status with the board of ed, but like my principal said, i would regret it if i didnt take the time to be with my grandma.
However, my family did say that since I won't have a full time job, i'll probably tutor on the side, that they will try to help more with the wedding plans and financial duties that go along with that.
It just makes me really upset to know that these people won't be here with me when i walk down the aisle. And although I think that maybe because of the money issues that maybe we should push back the wedding until 2009 so we can save more, all i think about is who might now be there if we push it back further. I'm sorry if this is depressing its just stuff i had to get out there and stop keeping it bottled up inside me. so thanks for reading and listening to me!
