I've only been in the warmer months- do people go to wineries on the weekends now? I have out of towners who are coming in a couple of weekends and were possibly interested in going to some.
Also- which would be the best to go to at this time? TIA.

Re: The wineries out east
Yes, the wineries can actually be somewhat crowded if they are doing a promo weekend. Last year they had a Valentines weekend promo and some of the places were so packed we couldn't get in! This year, I think they are doing a February Passport promo, instead of just V-day weekend. Some of the places are closed during the week, open weekends only. There is a website but I'm not sure what it is - maybe LIwineries.com? Definately worth visiting the north fork in the off season.

Any suggestions to which winery to go to? The people coming like white wine better but I like reds but am open to either kind.
Also- we are planning on picnicing there. Are the places inside in the winter?

yes you can go at any time!! I like palmer and macari - they aren't too far out. The most beautiful one I have been to is Rafael, but its all the way out there!

Re: The wineries out east
This is a recent thread on favorite wineries. I am compiling a list for my OOT guests and have visited many of them recently. FM me if you have any questions.
Two MUST SEE: Raphael (yes, biased, but it is amazing!) and The Old Field - two completely different wineries - they will really give you the idea of the broad spectrum of vineyards and wine makers out there!
