Hey Girls, I'm new to the forum! I'll be a 2011 bride :)
I'm deciding between The Woodlands and Carlyle on the Green for a Saturday night wedding in June (about 200 people). I would love your honest opinions about both venues (positives and negatives). If possible, I would love to know price quotes from other 2011 brides for these venues. Were you able to negotiate the price at all?
Also, does anyone have any 411 about Woodbury Country Club? (Prices, experiences, etc.) I was given a very low quote for this RH.
Thank you for your help! It's greatly appreciated!

Re: The Woodlands or Carlyle on the Green?
I've only been to the Woodlands but have heard greeeattt things about Carlyle on the Green.
I loooved the woodlands but it was a little above our budget. My parents have been to several functions there and said that the food and service is amazing!! Plus you get the whole mansion to yourself. I have other family members that have been to Carlyle on the Green and have also loved it. It's such a beautiful place and the food is also good! If the price is comparable, i'd say u can't go wrong with either place!!
Good luck! and welcome!

Re: The Woodlands or Carlyle on the Green?
Congrats and Welcome!
I have only been to carlyle on the green also. My only complaint is that the room we were in (which I assume would be the same as yours because there were a LOT of people) was set up so that there were two rows of table (one around the dance floor and one behind that). This made is so the people in the back row (us!) couldn't see the dance floor (which means we couldn't see the first dance, cake cutting, etc.). When the people in the first row of table were standing, we couldn't see anything!
Also, there were not enough seats for everyone at the cocktail hour. It was very hard to eat standing up because not all of the food was finger food.
However, these are my only complaints. Everything else was wonderful. The food and service were excellent.
I hope this helps and good luck!

Re: The Woodlands or Carlyle on the Green?
I debated between these exact two locations. Definitely, definitely, go with the Woodlands. We went to both places several times back to back, and stop by on a Saturday to see both locations prepped for a wedding. That confirmed without a doubt the Woodlands. Also, service wise. For the amount of money Carlyle on the Green charges, they were not flexible with the prices really at all (Woodlands is accommodating for sure) their service was no where near the service we saw and have received at the Woodlands. I couldn't be happier with our decision! Best of luck to you...but i highly recommend the Woodlands, but even more so, go and see both places setting up or set-up for wedding back to back if you haven't already. Good luck!

2010er crashing...
I am a Woodlands bride and I could not be happier with our pick. The place is gorgeous, the food is amazing and I have heard the service for weddings is incredible.
They are having another show case in October... if you haven't made a decision by then I would definitely check it out.

Re: The Woodlands or Carlyle on the Green?
One more vote for the Woodlands! I am biased though - we looked at both places (along with about 8 others) and I don't think you could make a bad decision. One of the things that makes me really happy with our decision is that every time we see a vendor (photographer, dj, etc.) they say the same thing, 'oh, the Woodlands - the food is great there'. I'm sure they say nice things to all their potential clients - but it seems like we are hearing the same comment over and over again.
We just stopped by to make a second payment and ate lunch in the little pub. They brought us over a complimentary dessert. Silly things like that make me so happy!

Re: The Woodlands or Carlyle on the Green?
Hi.
I'm a Carlyle Bride (I think there is only 1 or 2 others on here whose weddings haven't passed).
I also looked at the Woodlands and Carlyle was the last place I looked. I loooove it. I also went to a wedding there about a year ago and the service was great. The minute our drink was 1/2 full they automatically placed a fresh one down. Even if it was full but was sitting around for awhile they brought me a new one. Normally this happens for just the bride and groom but every guest was treated just as good.
Carlyle just re-did their outside cocktail hour area and put in a brick bar, a beautiful gazebo and the whole thing is just beautiful. Carlyle also has in house uplighting (or rather downlighting) which is a big plus for me.

2010 CRASHER --->
When we were looking for a venue - We first made an appointment with Carlyle on the Green and we immediately fell in love with the venue. However, it was out of our budget, the grounds were beautiful - the place was spacious and very luxurious looking. However, I had to suck it up and look at other venues as I knew that we could never afford that venue and another bride was already looking for the date we really wanted.
I reluctantly made an appointment with The Woodlands, telling my FH that we probably wouldn't like the location since it had that 'old feel look'. However, I was so WRONG! Out of the 9 venues we went to - I was excited talking to the banquet manager and when we left the venue our pros and cons list, there was only two items on the cons list, which ended up being immaterial. The Woodlands is absolutely gorgeous - it has a 1920s, great Gatsby feel. I would definitely recommend The Woodlands - it has a very homey feel. And you probably could negotiate on the price ;)
