The Woodlands vs Fox Hollow????

I need advice.
I am so torn between The Woodlands and the Fox Hollow. Anyone have any advice or thoughts?
I was concerned about the 'more than 1 wedding' delema at the Fox Hollow but the price was a huge difference.
But I loved the both of them.

Help!!!

I have never been to a wedding at The Woodlands, but we did look there for our wedding. I have been to a wedding at Fox Hollow and, based on my very limited experience, I would choose The Woodlands. The multiple events at a time was actually a problem at Fox Hollow for the wedding I attended there. Also, while I didn't like the cocktail hour setup or the shape of the ballroom at The Woodlands, I prefer the overall feel of the place.

JMO... I've been to both and at least from my experience, I would say there's a significant difference in terms of quality. I wouldn't say that Fox Hollow is 'bad' - they are just at different tiers on the reception venue spectrum (atmosphere, service, food, etc).

Just keep in mind.. I don't like Catering halls.. and I'm not putting down any.. it's JMO...

I have been to the Fox Hollow a few times as a guest, and I went to check it out as a bride..and I wasn't impressed by what they had to offer.. I also didn't like the set up of the place.. The room we would have to have because of our party size (rather large.. ) was long and narrow.. Guests have to walk through the whole place to get to the room, and the bathrooms were far away. It also just wansnt the look we were going for unfortunately. cause the price was AMAZING!!!

The Woodlands is absolutely spectacular (even though I'm not having it there).. the service you can't compare (hence why the price was more!), and there isn't another party (or parties!) to worry about...It has a different feeling than Fox Hollow.. less catering hall'ish....

As you can tell, i love fox hollow and don't feel it has a catering hall'ish feel in the least. I think its elegant, classy and has an old charm about it...and the food is excellent.

Also..from what i hear, the multiple wedding thing never presented a problem...just by hearing from brides on this board who were married there and so unbelivably happy with the turnout. I know nothing about the woodlands so can't help you there..just wanted to give my opinion!

Well i know it is a big deal for some brides to have one wedding at a time. So if that is the only thing that you want to be important that day then go with that.

I did not look at the woodlands but my friend went to a wedding there in june and these were her comments not mine, There was not enough seating at the ch which bothered her, and the room/dancefloor was to small for the room.

I booked the fh so im sure you think i am bias but you have to love your place no matter what.

good luck with your choice!

Re: The Woodlands vs Fox Hollow????

I think they're both really good, but it's sort of a matter fo how much are you willing to spend. You get what you pay for a lot of the time..and I'm not saying Fox Hollow is cheap..it' isn't. it's beautiful place, but as a previous poster said, Woodlands is on a whole different tier, wheras I'd consider Fox Hollow to be along the lines of a normal LI catering hall, or maybe better than normal, wheras woodlands is very upscale, and they even tout themselves as being upscale. Before it was opened, I spoke with a BM, and I was trying to place them among other places, and he kind of scoffed when I asked if it was comparable in price to JT, he said they're in a higher class than JT. What they say doens't nbecessarily hold water, but there are just differnet levels of service.

I don't know anything specifically about FH and WL, sicne I didn't go meet with them, but let me compare 2 halls I did look at, and considered both for my wedding.

Riviera vs. North Ritz Club...there was about a $30 difference in base price. both had one wedding at a time. both are really really pretty. They both have pluses and minuses about location. Riviera is on the water, but a pain to get to, while NRC is off jericho turnpike, but as a result is really easy to get to, especially in case of snow.

They were both beautiful places to have a wedding, but I felt NRC was much more well appointed, the decor was much more up to date (I am thinking of the ugly chairs in the indoor cocktail areas). The indoor cocktail area was really cramped, and people had to walk through the main ballroom to get to to the cocktail area. Also, and this is a BIG one....At NRC there is one waiter per table, wheras at riviera, each waiter serves 2 tables. I thought that was HUGE in terms of how long my guests would have to wait to to be served, etc, etc. Also, i got MUCH better service from the BM's at NRC. they opffered us wine, took a LOT of time with us, and showed us eveything including the bathrooms, coat check and bridal suite, and they seemed so much more accomodating and ready for our business, whereas I felt lieka t Riviera, they could take it or leave it. I really loved the attention we got at NRC, and it just seemed like it had a different level of service.

There's nothing WRONG with Riviera, but if they had 1 waiter per table, or they updated the cocktail hour or installed a granite dance floor, it would make it cost more money...

So in way you get what you pay for..wheter more $$ is worth it, is up to you.

Re: The Woodlands vs Fox Hollow????

FH and I looked at both the Woodlands and FH. We picked FH for a few reasons...

1) Price. Finishing up my grad school doesn't leave much in the budget area.

2) I loved the Woodlands..and if we had excess money the choice would have been a lot tougher. Loved the atmosphere and the one wedding feature and opportunity to have outdoor ceremony.

3) But I did have concerns, b/c it didn't seem like a real 'party place'- and we have that type of crowd. The Dance floor set-up was a bit small and oddly shaped for the amount of people we were having...so I think the Woodlands will be better for smaller weddings.

4) Fox Hollow is tried and true. Go with your gut feeling. Personally, the FH has been around for so long and are used to dealing with multiple events..it doesn't make your event 'less'...at the end of the day people are only going to remember if the band was good, the food was tasty and if the bar had good service...and you will only remember that you married the man of your dreams...

Re: The Woodlands vs Fox Hollow????

Unfortunately I think that a lot of it comes down to budget. From what I hear Woodlands is fantastic but a but pricey. We're paying for most of the wedding on our own and were offered a lot more at Fox Hollow than we were at other places. We're having a small wedding and the Winter Garden room is beautiful (there are pics on the fox hollow thread). I don't think you can go wrong either way!
