Tonight my FBIL's best friend of 25 years died. He was trying to get into his apartment but was locked out. My FBIL and him shared the apartment, and he apparently got locked out and tried to slide out a window in the hallway and into a window in the apartment. He fell five stories and died. He was 30 years old and engaged for the past 6 months. He was supposed to get married at Martha Clara Vineyard the Saturday after my wedding.

I am so devastated. My FBIL considered him like a brother. I am so worried about him.

Even worse, all I can think of is that life is not fair - it could happen to any of us.

Be sure you say I love you to your FH tonight....

Thank you all. I just spoke to my FBIL, who hasn't slept at all and is still pretty hysterical. I don't think he is ever going to get over this.

It really is amazing how freak things like this happen. I am so very sorry for you and your loss. I feel terrible for your FBIL and the Fiance of your FBIL'S best friend. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
