Re: Theater District for dinner...
I love a restaurant called Becco..it's on restaurant row...46th between 8th & 9th (Becco is closer to 9th)....the food is fantastic!
The chef has a great book out and they have a terrific menu. I usually get the Pasta of the day deal. It starts with Antipasti or Caesar salad, and then you get 3 pastas of the day, freshly made and served to you out of the pan...AS MUCH AS YOU WANT!!! Last time I was there they had: Rock Shrimp Pomodoro, Pasta Primavera & Mushroom raviolis.....YUMM!!! They also serve you a large basket of bread and a bowl of olives when you first sit. I HIGHLY recommend this place.
Isn't Carmine's in the theater district? Family style italian food...gigantic plates of food to share.

I LOVE the restaurant 44 & X. It's on 44th St. & 10th Ave. AMAZING food, funky atmosphere, not touristy, in Hell's Kitchen, very short walk from Theater District. I'm not into a lot of the T.D. restaurants, but was recommended to this place & now will go there whenever I have to see a show! Also, there are some cool places on 46th St. (Restaurant Row). I've been to Becco, didn't care for it at all , I know Lidia Bastianich (sp?) owns it, but I really didn't like the food(JMO ). Maybe I was just there on an off day. Le Madeleine is also very good, I foreget the exact address. Have Fun!!!

I LOVE Rachel's on 9th Ave. between 43rd and 44th. The Hourglass Cafe on 46th between 8th and 9th is good food at a great price. Orzo also on Resturant row is good. Basilica on 9th between 46th and 47th is good Italian food. Utsav on 46th between 6th and 7th has good Indian food. Ariba Ariba on the corner of 50th or 51st and 9th good Mexican.

PUTTANESCA , I think it is on 54th and 8th.
I don't think that Toni's or Carmines is a good isea unless you have reservations... They both get pretty crowded...
