I've been thinking about wedding themes. I know there are a few girls on here that are having a 'theme' for their wedding (I'm talking about beyond the color scheme).
I've been going back and forth with this idea. I already chose my colors: tiffany blue and hot pink.
Originally, my idea was to have a 'tropical' themed wedding- bright colors, beachy theme. Now I'm not even sure I want to do it. I feel like its so much work, because then I have to figure out how exactly to incorporate the theme into the wedding. I'd want to find 'beachy' favors and would be limited to that. Then try to find a nice balance, as to not overdue the theme, but use it enough so people see it.
I just want everyone's opinion on theme wedding.
Does your wedding have a theme? If so, what is it? How are you incorporating your theme into the wedding?
And to everyone (regardless of whether or not you're having a theme for your wedding): What do you think of themes? Do you think they add something extra? Do they make the wedding better? Does it remind you of a Sweet 16?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Theme weddings
i think themes do help to tie a wedding together to the point where GUESTS (and not just you and BP) notice the little details. the only 'theme' wedding i went to was a disney one, and i definately noticed more of the little details than any other wedding (i.e., the butter was in the shape of mickey's face).
either way, i think a wedding can be beautiful.
aside from just the feel/inspiration of cherry blossoms, we will not have a theme.

Re: Theme weddings
I think when a theme reflects something about the couple that it adds a special touch, otherwise I don't find it to be all that necessary. We may be adding some art deco touches but other than that, unless I think of some personal touches we can add then we'll stop there.

Re: Theme weddings
We are not really having a 'theme' we are sticking to our colors (hot pink, black and white Damask pattern, and BLING) very classy but still fun and chic. Which IMO is us... we love to have fun we can both be kidna loud (hence the hot pink) but we do it in a non trashy way (again IMO). We really want a classy romantic ceremony and then the reception to be fun and flirty. I really think it is all going to tie in nicely. And again its 'US'
I think a theme if done correctly can be awesome!!! however if not taken far enough or taken to far can either flop or be overkill.... JMHO.
I think you should research some of the beachy stuff, while sticking to your colors and see what is out there. Also does the beach represent you and FH? Ask yourself will people, 'get it'? If so GO FOR IT!! If you are unsure think about it some more again do some research and you will come to the right decision.

Re: Theme weddings
I am not very into themes for a wedding. In very limited cases it works if they do a nice subtle job. In most cases, the majority of people probably wouldn't even get that there is a theme and that everything purposely links together. I think a beach theme is more for a birthday party or an engagement party rather than a wedding.

Re: Theme weddings
I recently figured out our theme... fh and i met while working in nyc ...we both love the city but are getting married in jersey. I want our theme to be NYC
- table #'s pics of NYC landmarks (street names, park, grand central) - epics (which will be shown during our montage) wll be pics in the city - card box made out of NYC pics - cake - i saw this AMAZING Cake on a wedding magazine that i want to use. (pic attached, its a bad pic, magazine clip) - favors...really thinking abt giving away mini junior's cheesecakes (if in our budget) - garter..NY Giants/NY Yankees - signature drinks - dirty martini (someone posted before either here or BHB that this was a 'NY' drink, IDK)
i think thats it...but i agree w/other posters..if there are a few things incorporated in your wedding that represent your 'theme' its def not overkill. I think if it's meaningful to both you and FH it will be perfect! Now, IMHO I dont believe that it neither takes away nor adds to a wedding....these details are pretty small and not many ppl will notice.
