there should be some sort of star system for liw vendors

Like, a list w/ all the vendors w/ starts next to their names and we could vote on them AFTER we use them. That way I could see instead of seaching. 'Okay, so that hair vendor has 2 stars (out of 5) and like 200 people who used her voted. I guess I will pick a different vendor'

Great idea. RON do you hear this?

i think that is a great idea, but i doubt that would work, because vendors may not like it because it has the potential to hurt their business and they pay a lot of $$ to be on this site, so if their business was hurting, they may decide to no longer be a vendor, then Ron & Liz would loose business and $$

I was thinking that as well, but if they do their jobs right, they have NOTHING to fear, right?

There is a reviews section somewhere on this site, although almost every review of every vendor on it has glowing reviews....

This has been thought about but here is the situation. As an example; I like to read and I buy many books from amazon. When you look at the reviews for any one book (with many reviews) they range from the lowest to the highest. No real consistency. The review isn't really based on the quality of the book but the personal opinion of the reader. This to me is useless. Just because some may not like the book for what ever reason doesn't mean it will not be beneficially to me. And who is to say that this person really even read the book!

The same can hold true for rating vendors in this way. And to top it off if a vendor just happens to have an employee that is having a bad day does that mean a vendor should receive a bad rating? Maybe yes and maybe no but over the long run it might not be a fair representation of the vendor. I have seen people get mad at a photographer for not taking more photos before the reception when the reception hall grabbed the bride and groom away from the photographer. Or the bride and groom had their ceremony and reception in the same location (back to back) thus not leaving any time for more photos or more creative photos. I could go on and on. I'm stating this not to debate the issue but to make you aware of realities. Every wedding is unique. And every bride and groom are unique. What is good for one doesn't mean it is good for someone else. And visa versa. What you need to do is the research yourself and 'meet' with the vendors individually. Go with your gut instinct! In most cases it will never let you down!

All The Best!

This is true... I think its very similar to what you're asking for. Click on a particular vendor and some brides write a review and rate the vendor 1-10....mostly the 10 are the ones that will take the time to rate the vendors, etc.

True...very true...but my question...and maybe it's because I'm hopped up on too much NyQuil, but what's the point of a 'Brides' Review' board then?
Aren't we just posting our opinions of our day, etc...
and lets point out I totally agree with you and have found that the bride's opinions of the day are not appreciated thus no review from this bride.

On the review board you get to verbalize. With a number or star section 'only' you have no idea why the rating was given. This may or may not make sense to you but the best reviews are those that speak of a vendor's positive qualities. Example: My bridal party consisted of African American, Asian, and Caucasian ladies. My make-up and hair team of 'The Best Make-up and Hair on Long Island' did an outstanding job on all the ladies. And then maybe show a few photos. Lets turn this review around. I didn't like my make-up or hair team of 'The Best Make-up and Hair on Long Island'. They did do a great job on 'me' but my MOH is African American and I didn't like the way her hair came out. Okay, lets look at a few things here. 1) does the hair vendor have experience doing African American ladies hair? Did your MOH ask the vendor to do the hair that way? 3) Did you tell the vendor you didn't care for the way her hair came out and can you please do something a little different? 4) was the vendor aware that she was doing hair for your MOH? Sometimes we can react a little too much to something we didn't like when it could have been fixed or all the details were given. Also, every vendor is going to have someone that will say something negative. No one pleases 100% of their clients 100% of the time, do they? Does this make the vendor one that should be crossed off someone's list? And if you are someone searching for a vendor and see that everyone you wanted to interview had one negative you can get confused and not know what to do. This is very unfair to the bride-to-be. Again, I could go on and this is only one simple example and there are exceptions to everything. Like I stated before the best review is one that explains what the vendor did that was great for 'YOU'. This way when someone is searching for the same thing it can help them to make a decision and not discourage them or help them to make no decision at all. Hope this makes sense!

you know what I wish we had?

instead of just the bride's review board, something that we could create ourselves... almost like a webpage-ish... that would have sections 'florist' 'hair' etc. so that it would be more uniform.

i actually like the reviews that aren't just A+++ but those that get the pics in there, with a veralization of what THEY did too...

did that make sense?
