There was a mouse in my kitchen!

Original post by SeaMaiden

So.....I'm paranoid and we just moved into an apt. so i put sticky traps down to catch anything living that shouldnt be. Last night at 5am we hear what sounds like a mouse eating wood but it actually was the sound of a mouse stuck in a sticky trap in my cabinet. .

I was soooo upset after realizing there are mice in my new apt, and how horribly it is going to die. FH put it in an open trash can outside so it is either alive suffering or drowned in the rain. I am soooo upset! I cant have mouse droppings all over my stove, fridge and counters (Yea....EEEEWWWWWW) but i feel bad about killing them. I wanna move out already!

You should definitely tell your landlord. Are you in an apartment building or in a house?

We are in a house-1st floor.

Talk to them. Hopefully they will take care of this asap

Omg I had a similar situation not at my house but at work. The recreation center I work at is under construction- easy breeding grounds for mice.
I was sitting here in the computer room (I teach computers) posting away on LIW last night and all of a sudden I see a mouse scurry across the comptuer room floor and I freaked out so bad.. now I am a bit paranoid about it. Then today I see mice droppings around the room- eewww!
I told the maintenance worker so he can put in a work order for an exterminator. I hope they come soon I am so I can catch the little critters.

we get waterbugs all the time and they are gross but I've become quite the brave one. Fh runs screaming and I'm there with a tissue ready to squish it! I don't know how I'd feel about a mouse, although my parents had one and they put poison down and solved that problem very quickly.

I actually had my first mouse (in this apt) last weekend. We put out sticky traps, and sure enough two days later I found it caught. I was kind of grossed out about disposing of it (since FH isn't coming home for a month) but I had no choice. I was quite proud for getting rid of it though... hope I don't have to do it for a long long time!!!
