Thermography - is it really necessary?? UPDATE at bottom

Thermography - is it really necessary?? UPDATE at bottom

I am having my invitations done by Pippy's Sweets who doesn't do Thermography (raised print). She has to outsource it.

FMIL thought I had to have the thermography in order for the invitations to be formal and nice. I really didn't care. So she offered to pay for it and Diana at Pippy's Sweets has been trying to find a printer.

It has been one hassle after the other for Diana and at this rate they still haven't been printed and I'm getting down to the last minute. I had wanted to have my invitations mailed today.

I know the raised print does add a nice little touch but,do you think it's really that big of a deal??

Those of you who didn't have it, did anyone say anything to you about it??

This is so annoying!

i made the pocketfolds myself and did not use thermography. yes, its pretty, but not worth the headache.

i think you are fine without it. they will still look nice. some people prob wouldnt even notice! and remember...PEOPLE THROW OUT THE INVITATIONS! thats what i kept telling myself & i refused to stress out/ pay a lot of money for inviations.

repeat after me....

'people just throw them out! .....people just throw them out! .......people just throw them out! ....people just throw them out!.....'

Absolutely not necessary. I DIY my pocketfolds and everyone raved about them. Not a single person has noticed that it's a flat print.

I totally stood my ground insisting that I wanted it, then when I got them it dawned on me how not necessary it was. They would have looked just as good without it. If you are worried about time constraints, it's definately not necessary...

I printed my own and have got nothing but compliments on them. It's a nice touch if you have the time and money, but not necessary.

For me I feel like it is a waste of money. I considered making ours to save $$$$$ (since I had us splurge on photos) but FH was all about the invites. He wanted heavy stock paper, blocked lettering, and thermography. While he was talking with our invite lady I was just thinking who is this guy!!!!! Before LIW I never really noticed whether a invite was thermography or not. Don't sweat it.

i think this is just a personal choice thing.....for DH and i we happened to find invites that did have thermography---and we liked it. but if it is becoming a big hassle for you, then don't worry about it, and just print it as is!

I didn't do thermography either. With some of them you can only tell it's thermograpy if you run your hand across the print and who does that? (okay other than me). People will be wowed by your invites regardless!

Our invites included thermography- it isn't even as raised as I thought it would be.

My FBIL and FSIL used PIY (print it yourself) invites and they were GORGEOUS! She said it was a pain- so I'm glad I didn't do it (I almost ordered from the same site) but her hard work paid off.

I DEFINITELY dont think its necessary...at this point its more important that you get them out!

UPDATE:

Thermography is a no-go! Diana at Pippy's Sweets has had a lot of difficulty finding a printer to do it and now that she has found one they are going to take too long!

For some reason FH is upset about it because suddenly he really wants thermography... he picks the most random things to be opinionated about!!

AND I know FMIL is gonna have something to say about it b/c she doesn't think invitations without thermography are nice or formal enough.

The one person who this should actually matter to is me and I DON'T CARE at this point!!! I just want them DONE and MAILED!!

Thanks for listening!

defnitely not necessary -- we did our invites with SmashingCards and all she does it flat ink -- they turned out great. We used textured paper too -- you'd never know.

Tell FMIL and FH to relax, 2 days after I sent out my invites, my phone and email BLEW UP, everyone loved my invites and had to call or write to say so and I printed them on my computer!
