I posted on my FB status that i just saw prices of photo/videoo and it makes me sick as joke and I got alot of responds. Many of the post were 'hey, I have friend' or have someone (friend / Family) tape it.
I noticed alot of you aren't booking video? Can I ask why?
People are suggesting to have someone tape it for you at no fee (like a friend, family) is that a smart idea?
Should we go with freelancers? I am trying to stay on budget and if i can go under budget lol I know I am asking for a miracle here but a girl can try.

Re: These prices are making me sick :(
photo for me was one of my most important vendors so i splurged, and he was also one of the first things i booked, i just booked my video like a month or 2 ago, also went over what i planned cuz i couldnt find many that i actually liked their work lol
have you tried looking into Duet? theyre very popular and reasonably priced, they have great work and offer combo packages! i would def give them a call but hurry cuz they seriously book fast!!! so many girls couldnt use them cuz their date was booked!
i wouldnt go with freelancers cuz you want someone who has experience shooting weddings, who know what moments are a must to capture etc...
i wouldnt do a friend taping either cuz personally id want them to enjoy themselves at my wedding

We wanted video, but we did not want to spend a fortune....we went with Rob from Couped-Up productions. He's so nice, and really explains to you exactly what it is he does and we are so so confident that he's going to do an amazing job He also has 'recession specials' going on, you can get a basic package for like $900....our package came to around $1200.
FM me for more info!

We decided not to get video because I hear from a lot of people that you watch it once when you first get it, and that's it. So we decided to spend more on high quality pictures and maybe I will ask a family member to video the ceremony for us.

We have video as part of our package with Duet. While I really don't like the act of being videotaped, you really miss a lot on your wedding day, so it will be nice to be able to go back and watch it all. My sister's wedding was videotaped, and we really love having it. We do look back at it from time to time...it definitely isn't boring. HTH!

FH and I consider photo/video one of the most important vendors for our wedding. Photos and video are the things you get to actually take away from your wedding day. We def splurged on this area of the wedding (along with some other areas..haha )...but it will be well worth it when we have beautiful photos from our day. Video was a must for us because lots of brides say your wedding day is a blur, so it will be nice to be able to look back on the video to re-live our wedding day...and also to show our future children some day!!

Re: These prices are making me sick :(
I am using a friend to tape. i was willing to put out the money for photograpy but the video was just too much so we have a few friends that went to school for this stuff and the film weddings as a side GIG and we decided to use one of them . We will definitely pay him but its no where near what they are charging out there

Im going to use friends and family members to tape the wedding and reception. The church will hit record at the ceremony and hit stop when its over and then during the reception I am going to have it passes around the guys since they dont dance anyway!

Re: These prices are making me sick :(
I have always heard that you only watch the video once or twice during your lifetime. I wanted to spend more on photos that I can look at all of the time. FH and I decided that if we have any extra money towards the end we will add the video last minute

Re: These prices are making me sick :(
Photo/Video was my splurge but little did I know that the FIL's are paying for it which is a relief.
Photo was very important I want beautiful pictures. I didnt want those icky stuffy traditional photos. When I saw Duet I feel in love. My package including video is 4500 and you can negotiate
I wasnt going to do video but then I thought about how my grandparents wont be around too much longer so sad to say but they are getting up there they just turned 80 & 85, so I want my children to see them and hear them. And i know I the person who will try to take it all in and then the next day forget half of it so I want to be able to watch our wedding every year.

I TOTALLY agree!!! I really don't like being on camera, but I think wedding videos are different than what I pictured them to be like originally and I think you will appreciate the video in the future bc like Alicia said, most brides say their day was a blur and its nice to see the day from another perspective. Personally, I wouldn't trust this to anyone but a professional.

No video for us because we do not have the money to spend. We decided to cut back on things that were not very important to us.

Re: These prices are making me sick :(
we are not planning on getting video because
1) an added expense that I don't feel we need to add to our plate.
2) FH and I thought about it and really, how many times are we actually going to sit down and watch this? Like maybe once the first time we get it?
3) My brother had video done and my uncle also shot his own little video at their wedding. When we got the two, I have to say I thought my uncle's video was way better. It's like he knew better what to capture and what would makes us laugh while watching it. So I told my Uncle (even though lately he's more into Photography) that he's going to have to put his big ol' camera down for the night and shoot some footage lol.
