I have very thin hair and super straight . In short, baby hair. I did not do my hair trial yet.
I had planned on wearing my hair up with veil below a bun type updo.
Now my FH is telling either to leave my hair down or half up with some hair down. Of course, he is not going to know what the final product will be.
I am scared that it is going to look too flimsy with no volume. Of course, hot rollers on my hair last about 1 to 2 hours.
Is anyone in the same situation (with their hair)?
Have you done your trial yet and did look best.
Thanks for all input

Re: Thin hair
My hair's like yours, and honestly, as much as DH likes my hair down, I put it up.
Listen, you know your hair better than he does. If you're uncomfortable with leaving it down, then don't leave it down. Explain to FH that it's not going to work.

Re: Thin hair
I have that type of hair too. I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving it down because I know that curls fall out after 20 minutes. Maybe you could get extensions to make it a little bit fuller. They may also hold onto the curl better. I'm planning on having an updo and getting some extra hair to add in.

Re: Thin hair
I have the same exact hair (see my avatar pic from 1st grade..hasn't changed much With our wedding being in July there is no way I'm leaving it down w/ the possible humidity...I haven't had my trials yet either...yet I'm thinking I'll still put it totally up, maybe something like this (where it isn't flat to my head)
If you do an updo the hairstylist can make it look fuller by adding hair or if you want to wear it down you could add hair extensions. I think a good hairstylist can work wonders.

Re: Thin hair
I have the same exact type of hair and I've had hairstylists work wonders on it!! I'm having extensions put in for my wedding, but only because I'm wearing it down. It can be done well in an updo if the stylist knows what they're doing!!

Re: Thin hair
My FH loves my hair down. But it looks awful after about 2 hours. I'm doing mine up. I love my FH, but I need to do what my thin hair dictates.

Re: Thin hair
My FH hates my hair up and couldn't believe that was what I was doing. He wanted it all down or half up. I wanted to do something different since it is my wedding day and love the look with a strapless dress. After my hair trial he loved it so wait and see what happens. I was also going to say to add fullness add extensions, it can easily be done.

Re: Thin hair
Thank you all!
I just booked a trial with Mia in a few weeks. We may end up putting hair extentions to add fullness.
I REALLY have thin hair and it gets very oily if I touch it too much. What can I say, I am blessed!
Thank you for mentioning summer and humidity, that may dictate the hairdo also since the wedding is in August. Especially when adding the veil.
I will keep the thin hair club posted.

Re: Thin hair
Yes, I feel your pain...
I have VERY fine hair myself and it's also VERY straight. I don't have to style it or anything, it's just there. On my wedding day I had my hair put back in a low bun (check out my community album for pics) and was afraid it was going to look like a little knot being my hair is so thin. My hairstylist decided to add fake hair to my real hair which gave my bun fullness and it looked AMAZING!! You couldn't even tell, the color she used was identical to my hair color.
If you were to leave it down maybe they can add some curls to give you volume which may work. Although, if your hair is like mine the curls may not stay throughout the entire day so you may be better off with doing an updo.
Hope I was able to help ya out.
Good luck!
Edited for spelling.

Re: Thin hair
I used the hair genie and she clipped in hair in my BMs do's, the ones whose hair was thinner or a little short. They loved it and they looked great.

Re: Thin hair
I have the same problem. I found a solution about 2 years ago...HAIR EXTENSIONS BY GREAT LEGNTHS. I love them!!! They are a bit on the pricy side ($1200) but last for six months. They don't damage your hair. In fact, my hair feels healthier than ever b/c I color it less and the bonds actually protect your hair. I don't have them in now but will be getting them in again in April. I have a great hair dresser than will do them in her home. She works at Frederick Fekkai in NYC. I could never afford them if I had her do them in the salon (it's about $4,000).
If you are interested please FM me and I will give you more details.
Good luck

Re: Thin hair
hey there! I am so excited to see your trial you must post pics!! Since I know you saw my trial pics... My hair is also quite thin so Mia said we would try the hot rollers first and see what happened..my hair holds curls fairly well, apparently! (with heat and tons of hairspray!!)... but I know Mia is very honest and is willing to try things with you and will be able to let you know what will work with your hair. I was shocked out how voluminous my hair turned out, but I know if it didn't Mia would have been able to create something that worked for my hair...don't worry, you're in good hands My FH is like yours, he said to just wear my hair like I do everyday

Re: Thin hair
I have super straight and thin hair (Japanese Hair Straightening) - and Mia added extensions for volume (mainly) and length (just a little bit.) She did wonders and I couldnt' be happier.
w/extensions
w/out extensions

Re: Thin hair
Okay - me tooooooooooooooo
All of the adjectives all of you used to describe your hair are the exact ones I use to describe mine. SUPER Straight 'Baby' Hair. My hair is long and i wanted to wear it up, sort of in a loose, messy curls kind of style (Like the Pic I attached). TOO FUNNY my hair curling!!! I keep joking that I'll just BUY myself some hair - so where do you get it? HOW do you get it??? As far as getting something online, how do you know what color, etc.?
I am really stuck here! I haven't scheduled my hair trial yet because of this very thing and I am all of a sudden at 59 days till....
