Thin lying placenta?

Thin lying placenta?

I went to the doctor the other day for an emergency sono and the doctor told me i have a low lying placenta. The placenta is completely covering my cervics. I was told it can move on it's own as the uterus grows put i was wondering if anyone has been through this? The other outcomes if it doesn't move are not options i am at all happy with. Any help would be great. TIA

I had a low lying placenta with Emma. At my 20 week sono it was pretty close to my cervix. By my 32 week sono it was 2.5CM away from the cervix which was plenty far away from it so I could have had a natural birth if things would have went that way.

Just relax, you have a great chance it will move.

I also had a low lying placenta. There's really nothing you can do for it. As your uterus grows, it might naturally shift away from the cervix. At my 32 week sono, the doc said everything was fine.

If the placenta completely covers the cervix, its called placenta previa, in which case the birth would have to be c/s. Even though mine wasn't, I still ended up with a c/s because he was breech.

The only think you can do is relax.

The doctor said that they are going to keep a close eye on it and see what happens. They are hoping it moves as the baby and the uterus grows. I had never heard of this before and didn't know how normal this was. Thanks for the advice.

It's normal. I had total placenta previa. It never moved away from the cervix it just covered it more. Towards the last month or 2 (I think) I had to keep going for a sono like every 2 weeks. I was on partial bed rest than total. I was not aloud to go into labor because the baby would not be able to come out. & I would also bleed too much. I had a c-section 10 days before my due date. I had an extreme case & also other issues that came up doring surgery. But normaly it does move away by itself. It's more comon than you think.

I have Placenta Previa also.

They are keeping their eye on it for now. I am 25 weeks and I go next week (week 26) to see if its moved up at all.

I was told years ago that I would not be able to have children because of my strange hormone levels so anything out of the ordinary that I hear from the doctor I get a little nervous. Thanks for all of your advice.

I hope your placenta moves but remember that this does happen to other women and they and their babies are just fine!!!
