Things I wish I knew...

Things I wish I knew...

Hey ladies! I haven't been on here in a few months. I thought I'd share some things I wish I would've known before planning and spending! Hope it helps!

*Only send STD's to family members and very close friends that will still be around for the wedding a year later.

*Do not send STD's addressed - 'The Smith Family'. Those random people and kids in your guests families are the ones you can cut when you realize how large your guest list is.

*Bouts are not necessary. My hubby's bout is squished and sideways in all pics. Waste of $$. If you want them for formal pics, get really cheap ones so they can take the off after pics.

*Tell you photographer what you want pics of. I asked mine if he wanted a list from me and he said I was insulting him. He is the pro and knows what pics to take. Needless to say, I have hardly any pics of me wth my BP and other people I wish I had pics with

*Make sure you own the rights to your pictures

*Put lipstick/gloss on constantly. I forgot and regret it after seeing the pics now

*Talk to ALL of your guests at the CH. Yes we are thankful they came to celebrate but we spent 2 hours thanking everyone. You spent a lot of time and money for this day...you should enjoy it!

*When leaving the church...Stop and smile for the pics. We are making ridiculous faces and don't have any album-worthy pics with the rose petals.

*Ask your RH, band or DJ if they can pipe music into the CH. Noone listens or notices the music. Easy way to save $$

*Make sure you own the rights to your pictures

From what I understand, the person who takes the photos owns the rights to those photos and in order for you to own the rights you would have to pay a lot of $$.

Maybe what you mean is to make sure you the right to print copies from the digital files. When I received my engagement photos on dvd, my photographer included a letter which allowed me to make copies in case the printer (like shutterfly) ever asked for it.

When I was looking at photogs, some would not give the rights to the proofs. Without those rights, you can't legally reproduce anything on your own and need to go through the photog for everything. I found a photographer to give me the rights, but he still owns the right as far as whether he wants to put on his website or use for other business purposes. Maybe that's what she meant?

Ha ha...to clear things up...that is what I meant. i guess to own the rights to your proofs. It's a big plus to receive a HIGH RESOLUTION dvd of all proofs unmarked. This way you can do what you want. Many photographers do this
