Sooo my shower is tomorrow!! I'm so excited the day is finally here :) I of course was stalking my registry and noticed several items that I did NOT add to my registry but are now on there and purchased?! Did anyone else experience this? I don't want to hurt someone's feelings tomorrow when I open up these gifts that I didn't ask for. Do I just say thank you then return them? I feel so silly. What would you do? TIA
That is strange. Where did you choose to register? Hope they have a good return policy. I think the best approach would be to accept the gifts at the shower and then return things you don't want/need.
Bed Bath & Beyond. There's several items and I noticed 1 was semi-expensive.
Luckily BBB has an excellent return policy, and you can even get cash back for registry gifts you return. Does someone else have access to your registry? FH or MOH perhaps?
This happened to me. I noticed someone bought our knife block but in the wrong color - and nothing else had been purchased off the registry.
that happened to me either people got the wrong thing (square instead ugh! lol) or random things they didn't mention it wasn't part of my registry so it got added lol. I still have on mine someone's blue lotion dispenser and a corkscrew. bed bath is the best place ever for returns. also anyone returning stuff you can ask if anyone used coupons and get them back :) fh used to work there so he knows all the secrets.
That happened to my sister. She registered for these particular towels and for some reason one of our aunts bought them but in purple. She ended up keeping them and just using them as extras but we have no idea how that ended up happening.
Well this kind of happened to a friend of mine she went to the bathroom while registering and left her now husband alone with the scanner and he scanned a bunch of things she did not know about that people bought. At her shower she was surprised then he told her he registered for them. She just returned the items to bbb after.
For our engagement party we received this Mikasa dessert platter we didn't ask for it and we kept it because it was cute but BBB is really easy to exchange/return.
I think if someone buys something that was not on your registry it automatically adds it. Obviously they would have to mention the registry at checkout (or maybe they bought 1 thing from it with something else). This happened with my sister in laws babys registry but BBB has a good return policy. Just say thank you and sort everything out after.
We just registered at BBB a few weeks ago and the woman did tell me if someone buys something not on your registry that it can get added to it, just so that others know that this additional item was purchased. Just in case other people are planning to go off registry as well -- so you don't end up with duplicates!

At BBB, if someone purchases something off of your registry, AND something else in the same transaction, it all shows up as 'purchased' on your registry. I learned this after seeing a Kit Kat and a Diet Coke on mine :) Someone needed a shopping snack.
Edited to add: so the extra things may or may not be for you - they may have gotten you one of your things and things in addition.... or done their own shopping at the same time
