Things to remember on your day-long
AWOMEN I WORK WITH SENT ME THIS TO CHEER ME UP THIS MORNING-FIGURED I WOULD SHARE AS I THINK IT IS GOOD ADVICE!!
So here is where you can smile
You are embarking on the best path your life will take. I was single for a long time. Jerry and I have been married for 10 years this March. He is turning forty and me 39. Two kids, house and car later, I can tell you.. married is better!
Jerry travels M-F and every week I feel like I am in high school pining away for my boyfriend. That is how I feel about my husband.. he has become my best buddy in the whole wide world. Don't tell my daughter this.. cause she thinks she's my best buddy in the whole wide world.
So many things can go wrong on your wedding day. Be sure to let it slide. These are the things you and your family will talk about for years to come. I've written down some that happened to me and some that happened to my friends..
The photographer doesn't take a photo of your two families together.
Your best friend happens to be allergic to the entre.
Your dress begins to sneak down (at least it felt this way as they were swinging me around and around.. my dress was strapless)
You arrive early at the Church -- your guests do too!
The ceremony begins later than everyone expected.. you hear your relatives grumbling
The hoopa poll breaks! (ok you will not have to worry about this one!)
Your husband's best man forgets his tuxedo accessories (make sure someone has extras!)
You said Black Tie! Some one heard 'red'?
You forget the bridal gown lingerie (My sister in law had to borrow one of her bridesmaid's bras..)
The singer that you wanted for the band is sick!
The DJ forgot to bring the recording of your first dance (have a back up)
Your cousin drinks too much at the wedding and decides that he can be the back up for the singer that is sick!
Other family members are having TOO much fun.. they hadn't been out in a long time.
Remember to look into the dining area before everyone sits down so that you can remember how beautiful it is before everyone sits down.
Remember that you are the most beautiful person in the room despite the fact that you don't think so.
Remember that everyone loves going to a wedding so no matter how critical you are of the event, everyone really had a good time, they are not 'just saying so' just because..!
Remember that it goes so fast enjoy yourself as much as possible.
Remember that there are no rules on how to behave. Brides can do what ever they **** please. After all, YOU are the bride. (My cousin was so drunk at her wedding that she got on stage and sang, 'stop in the name of love' and sang it with hand motions!)
Remember to keep a glass of champaign with your best friend at her table. Tell her it is only for you so that when you get to their table you are going to sit down (finally) and have a quiet moment with her. This is the only time that you are allowed to cry! She will help you reapply the make up! I did this and my friend Ellen's husband took a photo of us with glasses in our hands. It is a wonderful photo.
