I remember that two of the songs that were voted on were MUCH BETTER than the one that won! The winner was 'Wonderful Tonight,' I think, but my friends and I stuffed the ballot boxes with votes for 'If You Leave' by OMD (how cool is that -- same prom song as Molly Ringwald's in Pretty in Pink) and 'Never Tear Us Apart' by INXS. Too bad!

Well, I KNOW there was not 'VOTE FOR THE CLASS OF 1986 PROM SONG' campaign, so maybe we didn't have one.

But the prom as at The Plaza ... does that make up for no song?

Having my boyfriend break up with me a few weeks before the prom made it NOT FUN! (and sitting at the next table over from him & his date). Also sitting at a table with my first real boyfriend ever and his date ... oh, I could go on, there were many reasons the prom was not fun ... in addition to looking like this:

I'm trying to remember which one was mine, and which was FH's - I know Billy Joel's Time to Remember was one of them...actually, it might've been both of them!!! I can't believe I can't remember mine! I know for a fact that FH's was Billy Joel - they played it 2x.

OMG I remember mine! It was a boys II men song that the DJ didn't even have!!! It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday. How ridiculous that the dj didn't even have it!

Looking back, I think that's a pretty cheesy choice. But of course back then, because I was so deeply in luuuuuuuuuuv with my first real boyfriend, I thought there just *couldn't* be a more meaningful song.

'This Magic Moment', Jay and the Americans, June 25, 1973, The Colony Hill in Hauppauge. I think its a different name now. I even remember wearing a yellow flowered halter gown which now my daughter calls it 'my hower curtain' And prom hair! YIKES!

Then I went to college and was talking to a girl in my dorm and the same topic came up and she said, 'Oh, yeah, we were going to have that too, but we didn't want to have our prom song be about a whore.'

Yeah.

didn;t you just love our classes choice....they could've picked a better song.

I love that song! Mine was that Billy Joel song Time to Remeber or whatever. I wanted Wonderful tonight , but the dj did pay it at some point & by boyfriend came & dragged me away from taking pictures to dance to it b/c he knew I liked it. aww

I remeber that Forever Young by Alphaville was on our ballot , b/c the class advisor put it there, but no one knew the song, we alll thoght of theRod Stewart one first.

My jr prom song was Heaven by Brian Adams. I don't remeber voting for that, but I remeber by friends decoratignthe gym to lok liek heav,w ith gates & clouds mad eout f constructin paper!

I do remember that a lot of people wanted the Bon Jovi song 'Never Say Goodbye' but my school wouldn't let us have it because it talked about 'losing more than that in the back seat'

My friends and I united to have a not-so-romantic song, and won out with 'Today' by the Smashing Pumpkins. Then the dj didn't have it!!!! It was so lame.
