I just dont' get it. Every year my SIL calls me to buy Christmas wrapping paper from her son. He is SIX. And it's been since he was 4. I have to buy like 5 rolls - I mean no big deal $-wise but WHY do the schools do this? What do they use the $ for? I am sure there is a good reason I just don't know about...but then I think, my sister's kids never have to do this at their school. I mean my poor SIL has to like call on family to donate $ basically! I still have 3 rolls of Scooby Doo from last year..and now I am going to have 5 Sponge Bob...

Jenny ...
fundraising is a big part of PTA's budget. Most PTA's do a lot for the kids that you wouldn't even know about, but the money they get from the school is usually limited. What s u c k s is that it falls to the parents to pick up the slack & hound their friends, neighbors & relatives! They might have better success if they changed their fundraising scheme. We don't do the same thing every year, it helps if you change things up. People don't get so annoyed when you're not asking them to buy the same thing year after year when they've got a ton of stuff laying around from last year that they didn't use!!! We try to be creative in our schools so that we don't rely so much on fundraising funds!! There probably won't be an end to this anytime soon, and the older the kids get, the more they need from PTA. (ex. All of the graduation expenses are usually funded by PTA). Good luck ... and when your peanut is ready for school, make sure you knock on your sister's door for contributions ... fair's fair!!

I get it! That stinks. How annoying for the mommies!
I was hoping this year would be an ornament or something...I guess it's hard to be creative though when there is so much else on the plate!
Dont' worry - I will be at her door with arms filled with M&M's and wrapping paper when my time comes!!!
