Are they the same breed? I think a 10 hour trip is a long way to go to find out whether your doggies will be buddies or arch enemies. You also have to consider what kind of training an 8 month-old puppy has had, or not had.

Re: this could be our new baby **updated - a new possible baby**
I have mixed feelings on the long trip to get a 'furbaby'. Several weeks before my wedding, my precious himmy (Victor) passed away. I was devastated. A week after I got back from my honeymoon, I went onto Petfinders and found a lovely pair of himmies (Mother/Son) who desperately needed a home together. Since I had the room and the love, I inquired about them. The location they were at was almost near Detroit. I told husband about them and he agreed to take the roadtrip with me. It was a very long trip and we did all the miles there in one day. When we got them; they didn't look anything like the pics posted. They were amaciated and raggy looking from poor care or depression from losing their owner who had had them since birth (they were 11 and 12 years at that point). The shelter they were at couldn't believe we came so far for them and actually thought that people in NY sacrificed animals!!! Yeah lady, if I was going to do that, I would have found an animal CLOSER to home!! They let us adopt them after I showed them a portfolio of pictures of our babies at home and we did another 5 hours back home that same night; so that the drive wouldn't kill them the following day. Taffy (the female) was VERY sick. She had to go immediately to the emergency vet when we got to NY. Both were underweight and dehydrated. They were distant for the longest time too, but they eventually warmed up and became wonderful, loving pets. Taffy sadly died of a total renal shutdown last August, but Teddy is a beautiful creature. My mom has him because she didn't want to part with either of them when I left home. She became more attached to them than I did because she worked on them to get them to come out of their shells. They got along from the go with the other cats/dogs too. I would go across country for the right animal. If you are game, I say go for it Erica. Maybe you could bring your doggie to see how things work out? If it doesn't happen, what's the worst thing about it? You took a roadtrip? Not a bad deal at all.

I would definitely want our dog to meet this dog first...so I think we would take him...
but I now do want to make sure I get a picture before we make the trip...
its from a woman who shows B/Ts...so my guess is that the dog is not show quality...which I don't care...maybe she thought it might be, but after a while it turned out not to be?
